Good Tuesday, friends and neighbors. Rounds of storms ushered in the month of August as our stormy setup shows no signs of going away. History making rains fell across the Lexington area on Monday, causing flash flooding. Boomers will continue to be scattered about the region over the next few days, with an increase in the action as we get closer to the weekend.
Today and Wednesday will give us scattered storms that can be strong with local high water issues.
The storm threat gets a boost on Thursday as some Gulf of Mexico moisture works in…
A cold front moves in and slows down with showers and storms becoming more widespread Friday and Saturday…
That’s the recipe for another heavy rain setup that can lead to more flash flood threats.
Overall, the setup on the CFS through the middle of September shows littler change. Check out the storm train from the plains into our region…
For the fourth straight year, it’s a bad time to be a local drought monger. 😉
I leave you with your tracking toys for the day…
Have a great day and take care.
hmmmmmm….someone’s lithium and Prozac prescriptions must be past due
I figure it must be some kid who’s finally learned how to spell those words. Just trying out his seven year old vocabulary and is really impressed with himself, but not smart enough to figure out that everyone else is laughing at him.
“bad time to be a local drought monger”, nice.
Though, you have to admit that the IU title drought is pretty substantial.
What was the final say on July rainfall (record or no record)?
No official rainfall records from the major reporting sites, but several locations in Western Kentucky had over fifteen inches of rain…very impressive!
Never thought I’d say this in August, but I’d like to have about a week of dry weather. I’ve been waiting to stain some deck railing that I installed and can’t seem to get enough good weather for them to dry out in order to accept the stain.
The light is at the end of the tunnel folks. Just a few more weeks. The storms will be gone, the dew point will drop, you’ll notice that first bit of crispness and clarity when you step outside in the morning.. And most importantly football will be back!
I know Jason I cant wait. My favorite time of the year fall and of course winter.I look forward always to Chris’s winter forecast. Winter in Ky. you don’t know what its going to bring. Thanks Chris for all you do and all your late night post for us. Have a great day.
ouch to parched
If you don’t like the blog then get out of here it’s that simple. I think you’re just jealous of Chris because he has such a good reputation, not just with us Kentuckians, but also surrounding states. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same. Kind of immature of you to get on here commenting that stuff with youngsters getting on here wanting to learn about weather.
OK – I must have created a total monster when you made a comment a few posts ago asking why your comments weren’t showing up and I explained to you that certain words trigger the moderation….and what do you do? You go all crazy and start abusing it. Sigh 🙁
Oh well, over the years of reading comments, I’ve learned to basically skip over certain comments when scrolling down the list reading comments, so I’ll just add your name to that mental ignore list now.
Have a horrendously terrific rest of your day.
You got anything to say for yourself bailey?
I have tried to comment about the actual weather and nothing is getting through. Guess this blog is too “parched” for comments anymore.
46 comments in the dog days of summer that has to be a record! wow!
looks like parched either got banned or his comments got deleted
Hopefully both!
