5am Saturday Update

Good Morning… again. Shortly after posting my update the NWS has now issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of central and southeastern Ky this afternoon into tonight. Here’s a look at the counties included…

Areas within and near the advisory may pick up 1″-2″ of snow during this time. Take care.

Previous Update

Good Saturday to one and all. We have a fast movingย clipper diving southeastward across the state later today and this will deliver a streak of light snow for some. There isn’t very much moisture associated with this system and that means only light snow along and just to the north of the weak low.

This system won’t have much with it until it arrives into Kentucky late this afternoon into the evening and hasย a shotย to deliver a light accumulation of snow. Here is the area that has the best chance at picking up an inch or two…

The prime time for flakes will be late this afternoon into the wee hours of Sunday. This isn’t a huge deal… but the ground is frozen and that means some roads could become slick and even snow covered.

Highs today will hit the upper 20s and low 30s with some flurries flying before the light snow streak.

Sunday will see improving weather as sunshine returns and boosts our temps into the 30s. The next system develops in the plains states on Monday and will throw some milder air and rain our way into Tuesday. This is when another arctic boundary slips through here with much colder air and a few snow showers into the middle of next week.

I will have another update later today and will send out tweets about today’s snow streak. Don’t forget to click on the tracking tools at the top of the page.ย Have a great Saturday and take care.
