Good Tuesday, everyone. Summer continues to put in a little overtime across much of the country, and that includes here in the bluegrass state. Our warmer temps will be accompanied by an increase in humidity and a corresponding increase in rain chances. As a matter of fact, some heavy rains are possible this weekend.
Today will see temps deep into the 80s with a small chance for a shower or storm across the south…
A weak front will touch off scattered showers and storms across the entire state on Wednesday. This action is wimpy compared to what’s coming by the weekend.
Scattered showers and storms look to begin to ramp up later Friday…
Watch how much that action jumps up this weekend…
A southern system then teases us with rain early next week…
Depending on how that southern stream system acts, it could easily eject out and have a larger impact on our weather.
Have a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris. You are just letting us know that we need to go ahead and get the yards mowed before this weekend aren’t you? That’s ok. I need to get mine done anyway. Planning on doing just that this evening. AS far as summer temps, I don’t mind the warmth, if we can just get a little less humidity, like the past two days have been.
But, as always, we will take what we get and go on.
Have a great Tuesday everyone. Thanks again Chris or all you do.
Storm Chaser map is showing Louisville sitting at 78 degrees while the rest of the commonwealth is in the mid to upper 80’s?? That’s not remotely correct, Louisville always and I do mean ALWAYS bias warm with the heat island affect. It’s like 86 degrees in Louisville that 78 degree reading was probably at 10am this morning.
Warm bias really seems evident in Lexington the past few days. Lexington hit 90 today, Louisville 89.
Yeah it’s a joke, I know Louisville official reading comes from the airport which makes zero zip zilch sense. It’s very common to see a 5 to 7 degree temp difference from the airport to a few miles away from the airport, pretty stupid. Where is the official Lexington temp taken at?
I’ve noticed that both SDF and Bowman airports in Louisville tend to have similar temperatures; both are surrounded by development. As Prelude touched on, more remote thermometers tend to be a couple of degrees lower.
Lexington’s airport (where official temperatures are taken today) is still relatively isolated even with Keeneland next door. But I recently came across a 1950s aerial pic of LEX airport; today’s airfield is much much larger which might account for a heat island effect even if LEX’s thermometer might be a bit off kilt.
Personally, I think Louisville’s official temp reading should be taken at the NWS office but that would make to much common sense and we just can’t have something that sounds like right. Why that cannot happen is well well beyond me. I’m thinking it’s got something to do with politics and politics is so over my head. So either way I’ve just accepted being clueless im probably better off anyhow in this particular instance.
