Good Friday, folks. We’re rolling our way into the weekend with more in the way of steamy temps, and a big increase in showers and thunderstorms. After a soaker of a summer, things have turned very dry across the region over the past few weeks, so the rain will be welcome.
We will see an increase in the showers and storms today from the west. The best chance for the action will be across the central and western parts of the region, and especially later in the day. This could impact a few high school football games…
The showers and storms will continue to ramp up overnight into Saturday. Additional showers and storms will be with us into Sunday. It’s not going to rain all weekend, but there will be pockets of greater than 1″ of rain. The models show these pockets in different places, with the NAM being the most robust and widespread…
After a “normal” dip in the temps, readings will likely surge again next week as summer continues to put in some overtime work.
The longer range models continue to advertise that infamous colder blast of air during week two. These have yet to show up as modeled but the European Model and it’s Ensembles have a similar look for a change…
That’s a very interesting look, if true. Both show a big cold shot diving into the plains and east with a tropical system in the western Atlantic.
I’ll talk more about the fall and winter with updates over the weekend.
Have a great day and take care.
Yeah for a change, most could use some rain. I recording a whopping 10.54 in in June; 6.57 in in July (down some); 2.89 in for August (drier than average); less than an inch for September so far (very dry)
All of aforementioned totals were monthly; I live 3 miles east of Harlan. What a change in precipitation from one month to the next. Not to forget to mention, I had a very dry March but April and May were way up there on monthly totals…bi-polar with the rain this year.
Another 90 degree day in Lexington. That makes for 39 this year and 8 for September.
I wonder if we can get a rare 90 degree day in October. We had 2 of them in October of 2007.
Happy Birthday CB!!!
Happy birthday Chris!
