Good Friday, folks. We’re rolling our way into the weekend with more in the way of steamy temps, and a big increase in showers and thunderstorms. After a soaker of a summer, things have turned very dry across the region over the past few weeks, so the rain will be welcome.

We will see an increase in the showers and storms today from the west. The best chance for the action will be across the central and western parts of the region, and especially later in the day. This could impact a few high school football games…

The showers and storms will continue to ramp up overnight into Saturday. Additional showers and storms will be with us into Sunday. After a “normal” dip in the temps, readings will likely surge again next week as summer continues to put in some overtime work.

The longer range models continue to advertise that infamous colder blast of air during week two. These have yet to show up as modeled but the European Model and it’s Ensembles have a similar look for a change…

That’s a very interesting look, if true. Both show a big cold shot diving into the plains and east with a tropical system in the western Atlantic.
