Good evening, gang. From late summer temps to a small taste of winter, the pattern has certainly flipped across the bluegrass state. As we look ahead, this pattern is growing very, very active, and will continue to grow colder as blocking in Canada gets established.

A few flakes will continue to fly in the far north and east tonight as temps area wide drop into the low and middle 20s. Wind chill numbers will be deep into the teens.

Sunday is cold with lots of upper 30s showing up across the central and east. Seasonal temps will be with us to start the new week with highs generally in the 40s.

Another system rolls our way with chilly rain increasing for the busy travel day on Wednesday. Some leftover showers will then continue into early Thanksgiving Day…

Highs for Thanksgiving will be in the low and middle 40s.

In my last post, I mentioned to watch a little system showing up more and more for Black Friday. The European Model now has a cold look with this…

That could be some chilly rain mixing with some snowflakes for the big Christmas shopping day.

After a chilly break in the action on Saturday, another low dives in here by Saturday night and Sunday. This could bring rain and snow our way…

What we are starting to see on the models is for them to now start trending colder and colder with the pattern. This is following along with the ideas we put forth more than a month ago, and fits what the Ensembles are showing.

The more I look at the setup for December, the more I wish I had gone a little more gangbuster with it in my winter forecast on WKYT. The pattern favors cold, and potentially big cold the deeper into the month. It’s also a stormy one that can bring snow and ice threats.

I will have a full update later tonight.

Enjoy the evening and take care.
