Good Monday evening to one and all. Your friendly weather dude is drinking a lot of coffee today to try and recover from a long weekend of tracking wild weather. Sleep is for the weak. 😉
We do have some changes in the overall pattern later this week into the weekend. Things are taking on a wintry look with much colder air surging in with a couple of snow chances.
The GFS Ensembles remain rather bullish on all this…
That basically shows low pressure working out of the deep south and turning the corner up the east coast on Saturday. Cold air crashes in with some snow on Saturday then another shot at snow Saturday night into early Sunday as an arctic front dives in from the northwest.
The European Model has the first low a little farther to the east, but does show the arctic front and snow with it…
We have a few days to watch all this and will fine tune the forecast as we get closer. But, the weekend does have potential to bring a couple of rounds of snow to the state.
Time to pour another cup of java. Have a great evening and take care.
This cold shot will be here for a whopping 2 days!!!!!! Then we warm up again. Terrible sign for snow lovers
Any chance it gets cold enough for a little snow Wednesday night or Thursday night? NWS is forecasting lows of 36 and 35 in my area….and they are usually a little too high….
Here we go again….might I suggest sunscreen, umbrellas, galoshes, and gloves for this weekend? I feel sorry for KY. weather forecasters this season. If this were China, this would definitely not be the Year of the Weather People. 😉
Seriously, I don’t envy you guys at all.
This is totally unrelated, but did anyone else see that in South Africa, weather forecasters might soon be punished with fines and/or imprisonment for getting the forecast wrong? Talk extremes in weather……

In other news, check out the CME’s. Oh the sun.

And as usual none of the TV Mets are even mentioning the chance of snow. I guess they’ll do there usual and wait till Thursday to mention it.
Listening in on the spotter network from Christian county, I heard law enforcement say that there was an unconfirmed tornado near Murray. I figured the cell was tornadic based on preliminary damage reports.
I’m still interested in the damage near Owensboro. Damage seems consistent with some type of brief spinup.
Chill out people it is going to snow this weekend, along the east coast. I prefer the Euro over the GFS. Although both models have had their issues this year. Cold and a few flurries is my forecast.
Snow! What’s snow?!? Lol
Hmmmm……..sounds interesting…..we shall see, we shall see……
Chris, I don’t know how you do it. You must never sleep!!!! Thanks for all you do. I was up at 4:00 am checking your website for watches and warnings. Thanks again.
Well I am going to wait until Chris “fine tunes” the forecast before I get any hopes up. 🙂 I do hope it at least turns cold though. this very warm March and April weather in mid January is kind of scary to me.
Chris, once again, I want to thank you for all the updates, and tweets last night during all the bad weather. It was very much appreciated, and you, sir, are a steely eyed missle man. 😉
I will believe it when I see it……
Chris, Thank you for all the updates and such! It is awesome to have a TV met so devoted to the weather and such.
I hope we see some snow this weekend. Even if it is just a couple inches. If you are a snow lover, that is better than none at all!
