Good Thursday everyone. We are inching closer and closer to the biggest weekend of the summer as our 4th of July holiday is just around the corner. Parades, fireworks and cookouts will take center stage over the next several days and a lot is riding on the forecast.
The heat is going to attempt another run at us during the big weekend and it looks to suffer the same fate as prior attempts t. It will get just close enough before getting smacked back to our south and west. More on that in a moment.
How about that Wednesday weather?! That was about as good as it can get this time of the year and today will be no slouch. Highs will be a few degrees warmer with readings in the low and mid 80s for many. Western Kentucky will surge into the high 80s.
Current Temps
It will also be another day of low humidity levels and blue skies.
A warm front crosses the region Friday and has the chance to spark a late day thunderstorm or two. The big news is that temps will shoot up into the mid and upper 80s with 90 in the west. The muggy factor will be on the increase as well and that will take us into the weekend.
Saturday should be the hottest of bunch as readings top our near 90 for many with low 90s out west. An isolated late day thunderstorm will be possible in the heat and humidity.
As the heat tries to settle in… a cold front drops in from the north later Sunday into our Independence Day knocking our temps back down. You can see that very well on the European Model…
That front should also touch of some scattered storms and that may cause some problem for festivities on the 4th especially.
Normal temps will then take hold for much of next week as we also have a daily threat for showers and thunderstorms. That same pattern is likely to carry us into the middle of July as the heat begins to get comfortable out west.
On a tropical note… the seasons first named storm fired up Wednesday as Tropical Storm Arlene was born. This is moving into Mexico today and is a nice little storm for the first one out of the gate…
Yep… it’s that time of the year again as we focus on tropical trouble spots. By the way… don’t be surprised if we see a tropical system from the Gulf impact our region late this summer. The pattern I am seeing certainly would support it.
Have a great Thursday and take care.

I sure hope we get a few chances at some tropical moisture this hurricane season. It seems that when we do get something from hurricanes, we are usually in desperate need of the rain.
Enjoy another gorgeous day out there, everyone! This sure is my kind of weather. I will be anxious to get out and enjoy it again this evening.
I’m hitting the “LIKE” button!! LOL!
heat index values modeled to make a run or surpass advisory levels on Saturday for many of us. I’d say 105 a good bet for BWG and LOU. GFS is hotter while ECMWF has higher dewpoints.
good evening all.
