Good evening, everyone. Light snow invaded the bluegrass state this afternoon and will continue to increase overnight into early Saturday. Things are going according to plan and there is no reason to change anything with the forecast.
The heart of the accumulating snow arrives later this evening and overnight along the arctic front. Slick spots may develop on area roads late this evening and many roads may become snow-covered to start out Saturday.
There is a heck of a northwesterly wind blowing tomorrow and this should be able to provide ample moisture for snow showers and squalls through the day. That’s especially true for the eastern half of the state.
Winds will gust to 25-30mph at times, so whatever snow you have on the ground will blow around some. Temps will also crash with readings in the low and mid 20s by late morning into the afternoon. Teens are on tap by early evening. Those same winds will make it feel even colder.
Make sure to hit the tracking tools at the top of the page. Radars, current conditions and cams are there for you guys to follow the flakes.
I will update things a little later this evening and will send out updates and reports via twitter. Be sure to keep posting the weather from where you live.
Enjoy the evening and take care.
Nothing happening here as of now…..
not a flake here in Barbourville, knox co. either.. had some sprinkles of rain earlier temp. 39-40-ish… nothing new here… 🙁
Don’t know if the snow will get here or not. Must not be enough moisture in the air. Shows snow all over radar, but not hittin’ the ground. 🙁
Just your luck I guess. Even Nashville TN reported a heavier burst of snow not long ago, albeit it was 35 degrees there.
how is your mom doing? better , i hope
We’ve had no snow here yet. It’s no big deal though. We are only supposed to see a tenth of an inch, if that.
Its starting to snow a little harder here in east Lincoln county. We might get upwards of 3 inches I’m thinking.
Nothing but a few flurries and temps of 34*……down here on the border!!!
Nice dusting of snow and still snowing pretty hard in Fleming County.
It stopped snowing briefly in Madison County, but has picked back up now. -Union City area-
snowing in Estill County
Seriously though… take a look at that radar right now — that’s the snow dome in full effect if I’ve ever seen it!!
Yep. I agree. If all the snow had hit the ground that the radar has shown today, we probably would have 3+ in by now. But not bothering me that its not here, rather daughter be home from work first before it all starts coming down.
no snow in london corbin area still waitin
We have about 3/4 of an inch in Farmers area of Rowan County-absolutely beautiful, sticking to everything (but the roads as of yet!)…wish the winds tomorrow wouldn’t blow the snow off of everything!! Trees/landscaping is ‘fluffy white’…go snow, go Cats!!!! 🙂 Still snowing (not as hard as earlier…) Love this blog-some of you guys make me laugh out loud! Keep it up…be careful out there, folks!
Sticking to elevated surfaces in knox
The snow dome is totally ticking me off! Invited my sons friend from South Carolina (both five years old) to come over and sled down the hill tomorrow. I don’t think we are going to see anything. Look at the radar and the snow dome over Central Ky! ARGH!!!!
That would be messed up. An already low result snowfall under-performing. Afraid the temps have not got cold enough to offset or speed up ground freezing. This means a slow steady light snow equals little to no accumulation for a lot of folks.
Seems by the time the colder air gets here to help out, most of the precip will be out of here. Oh yeah! That is normal around here 😉
I thought this system would be on the max side of CB’s map, but it is not progressing as I expected (FWIW). Perhaps LATE tonight is the main stuff……
I’m afraid the rumor that was started that old man was alive and kicking was exagerated
Could be
SAME HERE! Even with just two inches, sledding could have been done. The kids were called, the sleds wiped off, cocoa purchased, fire logs split and ready…..just NO SNOW at all….
Just started with a little rain here. Temp is 37.
Snow in Marehaven… Lexington… very nice to see.
So far a deck duster here in Frankfort, has a long way to go for 1-2 in. This system has the look of a underachiever in this area??
Snow falling in Manchester! 🙂
I’m loving it!!!
wow! would you look at that snowdome go! go away already! we want snow!
So frustrating.
Yippee it is snowing in Met. Lou….Now bring on and old school 8-12 / 12-14 or bring on summer and 90’s…..
Hard to get excited over an inch of snow….
Heck…am inch would be great! St. Matthews has ZERO…not even sticking to my windshield.
flurries here in Breathitt Co for last couple hours. Not sticking to anything deck has a flake or two and that is it. Pray that is misses us Have to go out to work at 4am. 2 big hills to go down.
almost 1/2 inch on deck in southern laurel co, not sticking to roads though.
Good deal. This winter has pretty much stunk it up. Might as well get the kids out early and enjoy the summer break. Average temps about ready to hit 50 degrees here pretty soon, so snow chances running out. May get a big one, but it won’t stay around long. Golf, flip flops, and shorts coming up really soon.
still nothing here in the southern part of floyd co.!!!!!!!
If you guys would read the JKL forecast discussion they are expecting another round Saturday AM and Saturday PM! Patience and Faith, my furry little friends!
We are kind of like an indigenous tribe lost in the dessert praying to the gods that they will aloud us a sprinkle of water.
sorry desert
I doubt we will be having snow cream for dessert any time soon.
Another professionally botched forecast. Anyone in central Ky with anything more than a dusting raise your hands. Someone bit on the ridiclous models that NEVER prelict moisture correctly with screamers. Living in this winter hell hole you’d think some would figuure out Kentucky sucks for it’s weather.
The lack of snow isn’t the worst part of this winter. The worst part has come in the form of stinkers who natter and complain and whine and think they have blame somebody about their frustrations. Boo hiss…
