Good Saturday everyone. It’s a wintry day across much of the bluegrass state as snow showers, gusty winds and falling temps combine to give us a more typical winter look and feel. This is especially the case across the eastern half of the state, where snow squalls could also fire up.

Let’s break it down…

– Snow showers and squalls will kick in behind out departing arctic front. These will get a nice shot of moisture coming off Lake Michigan. Your regional radar should show this setup quite well.

– These snow squalls may cause whiteout conditions at times and can also drop a quick half to one inch of snow. Those areas getting under several of these will be looking at some decent snowfall on top of whatever you wake up with.

– Winds are going to be howling with gusts of 30-35mph at times.

– Temps will drop into the low and mid 20s by late morning and early afternoon and will slowly dip into the upper teens by evening. Those gusty winds will make it feel MUCH colder.

– Sunday morning is cold and the GFS bears this out…

– Highs Sunday will rebound into the upper 20s and low 30s.

– Cold air will continue to be in place early next week. That’s when a west-east moving area of low pressure works across the southern states. This will throw moisture into Kentucky with light snow likely for many…

– Light accumulations are a good bet with this next systems. Could this provide some with the elusive snow day? We shall see. πŸ˜‰

– The setup should provide us with another system to watch by the end of next week.
