Good Wednesday to one and all. We have been living a charmed weather life over the past month or so with temps that have been running way above normal. Things are about to change up a bit as I see cooler air winning the battle as the week goes on and we have the chance for more cool next week.
Showers and some thunderstorms will be roaming about the state today into Thursday as we usher in this cooler air. The action today may be on the strong side for some areas with hail and high winds possible. Heavy rainfall will be likely through Thursday and this may lead to localized high water problems. The NAM is spitting out some decent totals during this time…
The showers will continue into Thursday as a slow-moving system works across the region. This will also bring much cooler air into town with readings on Thursday struggling to get out of the 50s.
Clearing skies will set in by Thursday night and this will allow temps to drop into the low and mid 30s by Friday morning. The opening day of the spring meet at Keeneland will see temps around 60 for a high under mostly sunny skies.
Our Easter Weekend will see readings warming closer to 70 Saturday with more sunshine likely. A cold front will work our way for Easter Sunday with temps in the mid and upper 60s and the threat for a few showers before the day is over.
This front may bring an even cooler shot of air our way into early next week. Take a look at the chill moving in on the European Model…
Some of models are toying with the idea of a heck of a cold shot coming down the line at some point next week. This could set the stage for a rather active period as the Spring fights back.
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
Did you see the video of the semi-trailers flying through the air in Texas during the tornados? The link is below. It’s quite amazing to see the power.

It’s said that the first movie film of a tornado was not until the early 1950s and that the first tornado on live tv was 1964.

Now it’s relatively easy to see storms live from hundreds of miles away. Amazing the big changes over a few short years.
12Z models hinting at a freeze, not frost, possible Friday morning. Gardeners might want to watch this closely.
Frost/Freeze warnings have been issued across Ohio and Indiana. Will those get extended further south into Kentucky?
This afternoon’s weather turned pretty crummy in Northern Kentucky. Flash flood warnings in effect for Bath, Fleming and Rowan counties as of this typing.
April is going to bite our early blooming trees & plants badly I’m afraid, Chris has a low of 28 early next week??
Still raining in Hazard area. I have been drowsy all day. 🙂
