Good Tuesday to one and all. It’s been a busy week for your friendly weatherdude and I am currently heading back home from the final four.
The weather today will feature the threat for showers and thunderstorms and some of those may be severe this afternoon and evening.
Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats and you can track it all here…
I will update things via twitter. Eight is great and take care!
Poor Chris. He does’nt even know what day this is. Between his trip down there and the Cats winning, it must be getting to him, lol. Hope you can get some rest now, Chris. WKYT did an excellent job on the games. Congrats to the Cats!
I was about to say that James.
C.!
Is today WEDNESDAY?
LOL Wake up Chris! Thank you for all you do! I love to hear the thunder, so bring it on.
Okay Chris. No more hurricane drinks at pat O’briens!! Lol. It’s Tuesday dear 🙂
I say we go with it and make today Wednesday.
Yea! That much closer to my 4 day weekend 🙂
What am I missing Chris said Tuesday.??
He changed it to Tuesday. It had said Wednesday.
Following LIVE tornado footage in southern Dallas county.
Have been injuries reported in the area, crossing I-20 and just east of I-35
Downtown Lancaster large tornado being reported

Svr T’Storm warning for Breathitt County until 2:30,
Looks like CAPE values are higher today, higher humidity levels as well. Cumulus field on satellite looks supportive of storm development. Some hail possible today, although the EHI index is marginal right now.
Better coverage today, as it looks like storms are already firing across the south and east where lifted indicies are higher.
And they’re GR-8!!!!! So proud of our CATS!!!!
But please no severe weather.
Raining in Hazard area.
I’ve been on the phone with all of my family members in Dallas. UNREAL footage and pictures of the damage done there.
Is your family ok?
Everybody is fine. Thank you for asking.
No serious injuries have being reported from Texas so far. Amazing considering some of the damage looks at least EF3, will be interesting what the storm surveys find. I was on break at work, clicked the livestream and saw one tornado live.
Also watched last year’s Tuscaloosa twister live.
I’m really curious too. Some of the videos are pretty impressive.
Extremely heavy rain, wind, and pea sized hail on south side of Richmond.
The warning for Lincoln county—is it for another storm that already died out? Guess so…either way, looks like the storm in between Garrard and Madison counties will slowly propagate southwestward.
Are these the storms the main line ro are we expecting more into overnight hours or what??
Rob, “main line” being as much as they are just scattered storms that merged into one big blob this afternoon. They formed because we’re i the warm sector of a stationary front near the region. Regarding the chances for storms tonight—not really sure. There’s a lot of extra technical stuff that makes nighttime storm development a bit different from in the daytime, and I don’t know much about it. 🙂 It certainy seems possible though–these storms have been tenacious today.
Rob, as per NOAA’s Louisville page:
“Isolated thunderstorm activity will diminish late this afternoon and early this evening. Numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop north and west of the area late this evening and move into southern Indiana and counties west of I-65 between 10 PM and Midnight. The best chance for damaging winds and large hail will be in this area. Storms will overspread the entire region overnight.”

I don’t like to disagree with LMK, but I am disagreeing here. I have to say the best chances appear in CKY in my opinion. There is still a lot of instability here, and dewpoints are a bit higher along with LI being higher. Regardless, I expect much of you will be seeing a nice light show tonight, along with heavy rainfall.
SPC has us out of slight risk of severe weather so they must feel threat has diminished.
