Good Wednesday to one and all. We continue to see temps running well below normal and we have a few more days before we can break out of this cold weather funk. All eyes are on a warmer weekend taking shape around here and for much of the eastern half of the country. Will that warm air come with a price? More on that in a bit.

The short-term features cool days and cold nights. Most of the region will experience freezing temps to start today and we will do it all over again Thursday morning. If you are a regular reader of this site, you were warned about this cold snap more than a week ago.

Highs today will stay in the low and mid 50s for most areas. Thursday starts in the upper 20s and ends near 60 with partly sunny skies. Our winds will still be a little gusty over the next few days and that means the increased fire risk continues.

Temps continue to rise through the 60s on Friday as the warm air really gets set to surge in here this weekend. The European Model shows the slow-moving plains storm helping to boost our temps…

Highs will hit the 70s Saturday and be near 80 from Sunday into early next week. We may squeeze out a shower or storm this weekend before a better chance for rain and storms moves in early in the new week. That setup could provide us with some booming thunderstorms and is something we will have to watch for.

Cooler temps move in behind the front and thenĀ  it’s right back up we go. The GFS Ensembles show the yo-yo temp pattern…

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
