Good Tuesday. Our old buddy Mr. Freeze is about to pay a visit to the bluegrass state and is likely to hang around for a few days. This is your friendly warning to cover up all the flowers and tender plants and vegetation. You know the routine by now. 🙂
High temps today will run in the mid and upper 50s under mainly sunny skies. Winds are going to crank up again today and may top out around 30mph or so. Please abide by all outdoor burning restrictions as those gusty winds and a dry ground could combine to cause some problems.
Temps tonight will head into the upper 20s and low 30s. Wednesday will be a few degrees cooler than today with low and mid 50s likely. Wednesday night is likely to be the coldest of the bunch as readings head into the mid and upper 20s.
The overall pattern over the next few days has the look of a winter one across North America…
Temps will warm up late this week into the upcoming weekend as a storm system slowly works across the plains states. Temps will warm well into the 70s and may hit the low 80s by late weekend into early next week. It’s a setup that will feature a stark temp gradient across North America…
I look at that map and two things come to mind. 1. There could be some strong or severe storms late weekend or early next week. 2. That is a lot of cold air bottled up in Canada. That leads me to believe we have some more chilly shots and decent severe weather outbreaks ahead of us.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
Hey Chris,
I miss you on channel 3, Huntington, WV.
I wish you the best…..and I might visit your blog here in Lexington, KY too. I have friends that live here so it works both ways.

Mr. Freeze? Using words like COLD and FRIGID on the maps in large font?
Too bad it’s not January, eh?
Too bad this wasn’t last week while we were in Florida on Spring Break!!
Chris, I will certainly be glad when the cold shots are done for the spring! Was getting used to the warmer weather. But, the way our weather has been, with everything blooming early, we are liekly to have snow in October!!! I saw some blackberries blooming back on the other end of our access road the other day. That usually doesn’t happen until late May or early June around here! Either way, thanks for the update! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
I hope this cold is like the last shot, more bark than bite. NWS says a lot doubt in amount of clouds and warm dry air at surface may save us from a bad freeze? We shall see I guess? Go away cold you had your chance, now leave us alone until about November!
I, for one, am happy to see these perfectly normal temperatures. I think that nature is better served when the weather remains average. Too warm or too cold and things get all out of wack.
