Good Tuesday everyone. We are seeing some changes in the overall weather pattern and this will lead to some warmer temps over the next several days. With the good will come some bad and that will be an increased threat for showers and thunderstorms. A few of these storms may end up being on the strong side.
We will see a warm front slowly working in from the west later today. A mix of sun and clouds will be noted across most of central and eastern Kentucky as temps head toward the low 60s. Some showers will develop across the western part of the state and may clip parts of central and south central areas. Here’s the NAM Simulated Radar this evening and overnight…
Much warmer air surges in for Wednesday as readings hit the 70s. A cold front will slowly sag southward into the Ohio Valley late Wednesday into Thursday and this front should fire off some rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these may be strong or severe. Warm temps should carry us through the rest of the week.
A stalled out front will then stretch from the Ohio Valley into the plains states. That’s where an area of low pressure should form by Saturday. That low will work across the region over the weekend with more showers and thunderstorms possible. Some of those could also be strong or severe. Most of the models are suggesting another chilly shot of air will follow the low. Here’s the European Model…
The pattern looks busy over the next week and change and the blog will be here for you every step of the way. Have a wonderful Tuesday and take care.
Seems we’re back to where we started last week after having a few days calling for highs in the low 60’s. My MIL is on her way and she’s packed for chilly/wet/warm/windy. That should cover it. 🙂
chilly/wet/warm/windy. sounds about normal for Ky.
The weather is just weird no matter where you are. My mother in Florida had to turn on her heat yesterday. She said she was shivering. She cannot ever remember using her heater at the end of April in Florida before! Usually by this time of year they are already heating up.
My mom is outside Houston and she said it was chilly there too over the weekend. She runs her A/C constantly but seems to think the world will end if she has to flip that switch to “heat”.
Could use some rain at my place so I’m liking the chances this week. (The blog has been pretty quiet lately so I thought I’d post something, lol). Thanks Chris!
SPC is holding onto the Slight Risk for central KY tomorrow. If a MCS drops into the state wind damage could result.
Hoping for no more wind. We had a baby mockingbird blown out of his nest in our yard yesterday, and green leaves everywhere blown out of the trees by the wind. Enough!
I am nervously watching a nest built above one of our outside light fixtures. The wind hardly ever blows directly at the back of our house but the past few days have have very strong gusts from that direction. (north) Poor mama bird is hanging on for dear life.
We also have green leaves all over our yard. I mowed today just to mulch them.
Whats MCS? I sure dont want any storms here in Waynesburg Ky.
