Good Thursday to one and all. A slow-moving cold front is working across the Ohio Valley today and will likely continue to impact our weather through the upcoming weekend. With the front in the area… our up and down temperature pattern looks to hang tough.

Scattered showers and some thunderstorms will be possible again today as the front settles in from the northwest. Temps will warm into the low and mid 70s for many areas as our winds kick up a bit. That front works through here tonight with a push of some chilly temps behind it. Some folks may wake up to temps in the upper 30s on Friday morning. Highs Friday may generally run in the 60s for many areas, but a big north-south temp gradient is possible.

That front then swings back to the north on Saturday as an area of low pressure works eastward across our region. You wanna see a wild temp swing from one side of this front to the other? Check out the numbers from the GFS…

Wow! There could be a 50 degree temperature gradient setting up across the Ohio Valley by Saturday. That should also touch off some scattered showers and thunderstorms around here into Saturday night. That’s when this front finally gets a little giddy in its up and pushes to our south and east. Cooler air will then filter in for Sunday and Monday.

I am seeing growing signs of a major surge of warm air for much of the country for the middle and end of next week into Kentucky Derby weekend. The European Model is really picking up on the coast to coast above normal temps…

Have a terrific Thursday and take care.
