Good Tuesday everyone. “U-G-L-Y… you ain’t got no alibi” is an funny saying from movies of years gone by and is certainly appropriate in describing the weather of the next few days. This is about as bad as it can get for the first week of May. The good news is we do see a warmup in the not too distant future. The bad news is it may bring another round of big storms and have some chill behind it.
It would be awesome if we could just get the weather back to normal for a while. This back and forth temp pattern and nonstop rain and storm train is way past being old. The sad part is I don’t see it ending for a while.
Low pressure is riding northeastward across the region Today and is bringing steady rains and some early day storms. These rains will add to the already significant flooding problem across western Kentucky. For the rest of the state… high water is not a very big concern with this renewed round of rain.
Track the drops here…
Showers will decrease from west to east tonight as our low pulls away. Low clouds and the threat for a shower will be with us into Wednesday… especially in the east.
The temps will be the big story of the next few days. Take a look at what the NAM is showing in terms of chilly temps…
Told ya it was UGLY!
The rest of the week will find a weak system diving in from the northwest for Thursday into Friday. This may bring a widely scattered shower or thunderstorm our way as temps warm closer to normal.
A more pronounced system dives in by Kentucky Derby Saturday into Mom’s Day on Sunday. This should bring some decent showers and storms in here and some of these may be strong or severe.
A surge of warm air is likely to shoot in here for the first half of next week. This may set the stage for rounds of strong and severe thunderstorms from the plains into the Ohio Valley. That will especially be the case as the chilly temps move back in by the end of the week. That will be a nice little battleground leading to the stormy period.
You can see the temp swing here on the GFS Ensembles…
Some things just refuse to change and our overall weather pattern is one of them.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.

Hope we will get a break in both precip and temps soon. Thanks, Chris for letting us know what is coming.
Everyone be safe out on the roads today, and have a great day.

In other news… 25% of our yearly rainfall in just 4 weeks… wow…
summer should be cooler and stormier than normal. This pattern won’t let up for a while.
Redbud….Dogwood…Locust….Blackberry and Linen Britches–did I forget any other ‘winters’?
I think we’ve run out of names and need to make up more. I would like just a few days of warmth and sunshine!
