Good Monday evening. A line of strong and severe storms continues to work eastward across the state. Damaging winds and large hail will continue to be the main threats from these storms. A new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has now been issued for much of central and eastern Kentucky until 1am.
Here’s a look at the watch outline and the latest warnings…
Regional radar is tracking the storms…
I will have updates as needed and will post warnings via twitter. Have a great evening and take care.
The idiots at the NWS need to stop saying their is a tornado in Frankfort when the radar clearly shows it is 15 miles neast of the city of Frankfort?????
Go live in their shoes for once. You are obviously one of the common people who knows absolutely nothing about the NWS. That supercell was racing off to the north and east, and there was another, and arguably two other storm right behind that in northern Franklin county that had moderate rotation with them. The first tornado could have EASILY produced a tornado in eastern Franklin county into western Scott county. When the warning was issued, FOR YOUR INFORMATION, the storm was directly over Frankfort and had strong rotation that would only strengthen as it tracked across Scott county. LMK did fantastic given that these storms weren’t predicted to be tornadic at all. Kudos to them. And as for you, I don’t know about anyone else on this blog, but I for one DO NOT stand by and let people bash the NWS. Back in late February and early March, the lead forecaster of the national weather service in Louisville worked 9 straight days, and at least 2 of those way overtime!!! You have absolutely no clue as to how hard these guys work to protect your lives. Now, if you wanna bash the NWS that’s fine, just go do it somewhere else like Facebook.
I have under wear older than you, when you cry wolf so many times with the sirens, this why people do not take them serious when a actual tornado does show up, once every 40 years are so! Lots of people die because of every time it thunders their has to be a siren going off???
I live in The city of Frankfort, very little rain much less a tornado, come on guys you can do better than this over hype!
They employees at the NWS are far from idiots, There never was a tornado on the ground in Frankfort, but, there was a funnel cloud reported. Do not go bashing the NWS until you are in their shoes, They work their butts off day in and day out to inform the public of any weather related danger that is out there. These storms are not nor have they ever been over hyped, I would rather take shelter and there not be a tornado than not take shelter and there be one, you can not be to careful with storms like the ones that are ongoing now.
Called my dad in sadieville, and the hail, wind was intense. I could hear the sirens going off on the phone but everything was ok in town. Thanks for keeping us up to date chris and NWS. According to him, it was pretty bad.
We’ve had such little rain in my part of lex over the past few weeks even with the unsettled weather around.
It’s storming just north of Hazard where I live. Thunder and heavy rain. I’ve lost my satellite t.v. I hope we don’t lose power.
Me & my 15 yr. old sons watched the wall cloud come towards us & at the time it was about a mile west of the capital city airport. By tthe time it got to the east end of the airport, the funnel was well formed & could had hit the ground at any moment. I was thinking that the sirenes should had went off at least three to four minutes earlier than waht they did. Just because a person doesn’t see it didn’t mean it wasn’t there.
