Good Friday afternoon everyone. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now out for parts of western and central Kentucky until 10pm this evening. This watch includes Lexington and Louisville. A line of severe thunderstorms will roll eastward this evening with damaging winds and large hail possible.
Here’s a look at the watch outline and the latest warnings…
Regional radar will help track the storms
Additional showers and storms will develop into the overnight hours and some of these may be severe. Heavy rain is a good bet with many of these storms and this could lead to local high water concerns. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is now out for much of eastern Kentucky overnight.
I will have updates as needed and will send out warnings via twitter. Have a great evening and take care.
I live southwest of the metro and this is the most “non” severe thunderstorm I have ever seen. I suppose they issued the warning for Churchill Downs folks but the wind was really light. No hail.
