Good Friday everyone. We’re just about ready to move into a busy time of year as the holidays are just around the corner. That means the weather plays a bigger role for those who travel over the river and through the woods. It’s looking like another big rain maker is gearing up for those pre Thanksgiving travelers. This one may cause some high water issues before all is said and done.

Let’s get the weather party started by talking about the cold start to this Friday. Readings this morning may hit the upper teens in a few spots with most areas between 20 and 25 degrees. Let’s track the cold air…

Morning Lows

Current Temps

High temps today will warm into the upper 40s to low 50s for many as sunny skies take over.

The weekend looks to be half and half right now with Saturday being the best of the two days. Clouds and winds will be on the increase with highs into the 50s to near 60. Those clouds will bring rain back in here for Sunday as our pattern goes right back into a soggy one.

Heavy rains will be likely from Sunday through Wednesday and we may duplicate or exceed the rain totals we had earlier this week. This could set the stage for some flooding problems and that will have to be watched. Look at the rain numbers from the GFS…

That’s a lot of water the model is spitting out!

Thanksgiving Day looks pretty good at the moment. Temps should run close to normal with dry conditions. That normal and dry weather shouldn’t last too long as a big shift toward a wintry look works in for Thanksgiving weekend.

There is a heck of a cold shot lurking on many of the models for next weekend. The European looks a lot like the GFS and Canadian runs I showed you with the last post…

This system needs to be watched as I would not be surprised to see this turn into a bigger storm across the eastern half of the country. If this one doesn’t do the trick… the pattern is favorable for a big winter storm into early December.

Have a great Friday and I will have updates as needed. Take care.
