Good evening, folks. It’s a bitterly cold night taking shape across the state as a swath of light snow works across areas of the west. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the very busy and frigid pattern ahead.
First things first, let’s track the light snow and flurries…
I have no changes on what happens later in the week. A cold front slowly works across the state late Tuesday into Wednesday with another massive temp drop. Rain will change to freezing rain, sleet and snow and all of this is likely to cause travel issues once again. That’s followed by an arctic front with snow Thursday night and Friday, then another digging arctic low over the weekend. That is likely to be another snow maker.
Watch all three of those showing up…

This continues to be an absolutely frigid and wintry setup that is locking in for the long haul. The coldest air relative to normal for the next month is right on top of the region. Here’s the next 30 days from the European weeklies…
The seasonal CFS model is also locked into the cold.

The first week of March
Enjoy the rest of the evening and take care.
Thanks Chris. I hope we actually get some good snow soon. And tonight looks like a good night for the eclipse, fvtiu can stand to go outside to look. Have a good night.
I guess when you average the highs over the course of a month it could end up below normal. But in my area Tuesday and Wednesday the high is predicted to be 50. The thing that I wonder about is these systems coming from west always seem to pull warm air up and we get rain ending as a light snow. We wait see.
Jimbo,
You need to move away from the doughnut!
I hope to in a few more years. Got my eye on several places, away from the warm wedge.
Looking at the gfs soundings for the Wednesday night system, it’s quite cold. If enough precip remains, totals could be decent given higher snow ratios. And will stick given well below freezing surface temps and cold ground.
Try to stay in your lane, Chris
What kind of stupid take is that?
