Good evening, everyone. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on this crazy active weather pattern that’s set to throw a little of everything our way in the coming days.
In the short-term, a few flurries and snow showers continue to push across the area, especially in the north and northeast…
That action goes away tonight as we set our sights on a much bigger system moving in late Tuesday through Wednesday night. This likely brings another 1″-3″ of rain to the region. A Flood Watch is already out for just about the entire state…
General flooding and river flooding are possible from this system.
The whole setup is likely to start with a period of snow and wintry mix Tuesday evening into the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Some light accumulations are possible, leading to travel issues. The NAM FAM continues to offer the snowiest look…
NAM
Hi Res NAM
Those are likely overdone, but stranger things have happened.
The next system moves in later Friday into the weekend and keeps the flood threat going. There’s even the potential for strong to severe storms. The wind gust forecast from the Euro actually shows where it thinks some big thunderstorms will be moving…
We have GOT to change this pattern up and it looks like that happens in the closing days of the month. Check out the deep trough moving in here as a major block develops near Alaska…
#teamspring
Make it a good evening and take care.
Thanks. This. I hope ofcthe lattern changes, and it’s not spring, it’s at least snow! But for now, I will say enjoy the dry beforcthe wet gets here! And please pay attention to warnings and stay safe! Have a good night!
An omega block in or around the gulf of Alaska would be a blessing.
Something, anything to end this freezing cold, mix to rain to snow showers to heavy rain to mix to snow to mix to rain to..,,
#TeamRainTrain , lol just kidding
#TeamSpring , I’m all aboard for that
Your biggest teacher fans in Columbus Ohio love the snowfall coming. Could do without the rest of the rain.
Now, how many troughs has this been in the past month or two? (Nothing against Chris….just keeping score to beat the boredom! Gotta do sumpin’ other than wipe muddy doggie feets and count raindrops!)
Unfortunately, that deep trough means absolutely nothing as far as increased snow chances…that ship has sailed and no trough (this winter) will overcome the rain train. If the trough drops in at all, it will be for a couple of short lived dry cold days, only to be pushed out by the next flood maker.
Paducah announced today they are installing the flood gates starting tomorrow….Ohio Crest revised upward to 49.5 feet…at 50 feet water starts flowing through the gate at the foot of Broadway. Getting serious when the gates go up.
#teamsun I’m sick of rain. If there is perception this time of year it’s supposed to be snow!
