Good Monday, everyone. BREAKING NEWS: Our weather pattern is actually calm for a change!! I feel like shouting that from the top of a mountain somewhere. This calm pattern lasts for a few more days, but March is ready to roar in like a cold lion. Unfortunately, arctic air later this weekend into next week.
Temps are in the 20s to start the day, with low and middle 40s to end it with a mix of sun and clouds.
Tuesday and Wednesday look even better as temps climb into the 50s under that same sky. Winds will be a little gusty from time to time.
Changes appear by late this week as a massive cold front dives toward the region. Showers may develop ahead of this by Friday as a series of systems impact the region. Winds are going to crank as this big change blows in. It’s a setup that can take us from gusty rains to snowflakes in a matter of hours.
That’s arctic cold air coming in behind that front to round out the weekend and kick off the first full week of March. As this cold sweeps in, it’s going to force the storm track to our south, giving us the potential for winter weather.
As expected, the usual model differences show up…

I will throw you an update later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Nice to see some sun today, at least the talk is snow instead of rain
LOL, trends, all I’m gonna say
So what are you saying!?! No snow???? lol
Bingo
So cold and dry as Tenn and Georgia get the snow. Then it all comes back north with the rain train and warmth. I am so over this weather, has to be the worst winter for snow and sustained cold ever.
In the so-called snowiest/coldest place in KY, Harlan has right at 3 inches of snow for the entire season, most fell in late November. Higher elevations do have more and mostly from that early December storm. Unfortunately, only 10% or less of the population lives up high down here so MOST of us have seen less snow than Central KY.
Now wait you just said on your last post March will go out like a lion and Louisville will double on the snowfall total for the year.
If Knox Co doubles it’s snow total on the year it would put us at about 1/2 inch for the season. This cold will be short-lived. Spring is a coming and I can’t wait. Just hope the rain train shuts down sometime in the near future.
And I am still keeping my hopes up. Just commenting on the current models, and we know they will change and on how the pattern is going. I kinda like the fact that it is forecast to go South of us because it gives us a sliver of hope with NW shift. LOL.
Clean your bikes up it is about that time!
Motorcycles are ready both of them sitting on trickle chargers in garage to keep battery 100% charged. Fresh full synthetic oil change.
WINTER IS NOT OVER YET !
I wish it was we can’t handle anymore rain.
As far as snow for most, it never started to be over 😉
TRUTH! We haven’t had but about 1 week all together since early December with average or below average cold, day and night. This winter is almost as warm as 2012 …just a bit cooler.
What winter?
ive always loved the snow. especially for the holidays, but this winter has been a colossal flop! its time to focus on spring! hope the cold spell is short lived. looking forward to warmer temps and hopefully lots of sunshine. please mother nature, enough with the constant rain already!
Thanks Chris. At least it is sunny today! I’m liking that a lot! As for Arctic IrcNd snow, well o know March weather can be finicky, but I’m aboardcthe spring train now so let’s blow that whistle and move on! Have a great day everyone,. By the way, Lake Cumberland was at 752feet Saturday night at 10 pm. New record.
Marquette MI exceeds 200″ snowfall for first time since 2012/13 season. Will come close to snowiest February on record
