Good evening, folks. The focus of the forecast continues to be on a big change blowing our way as we end February and begin March. It’s one that will bring winter weather back into the region.
The European Model tries to get this started earlier with a Thursday system showing some rain and snow…
It brings the arctic front through here with a shower on Friday and early Saturday, With much colder air in place, the Sunday system shows up very far south on the European Model, bringing a swath of snow across Kentucky…
The GFS continues to be a little farther south then showing another system following that up…
The European Ensembles snow map from WeatherBell show a snow line going pretty darn far south…

Not that I am really interested in fantasy snow after the horrible model performance this winter, but if we had the slightest chance for turning fantasy into reality, one should like the GFS being so far south this far out. Again, there is nothing yet to be excited about, but I did make a bold prediction a few weeks ago that March would be the region’s snowiest month….I mean, 1 to 3 inches widespread is all we need for the snowiest month, with exception of a few spots in ! LOL
I expect to hear from Jimbo if we get any flakes!
I have a little more faith in the Euro than the GFS.
We will see how it plays out, if I was to guess 70% of the moisture will fall as rain.
First off, I suspect these are more fantasy maps. However if one of them does turn out to be accurate. It will be the control run that shows that big donut right over top of me.
Thanks Chris. I’m on board with you forcteamspring. Winter has waited too late to make a grand entrance to this late date. Although technically it IS still winter until March 21. Guess that is an arguable point……maybe. Oh well. We’ll see I guess. Have a good evening everyone.
