Good Monday everyone. Parts of the bluegrass state got in on some much needed rains over the weekend. Those storms are moving on and now we get set to usher in hot and humid weather. Temps over the next several days will likely hit the 90s across much of Kentucky. Can a couple of cold fronts bring some heat and rain relief by late week and early next week? More on that in a bit.
Today will see the heat building in across western Kentucky with lower 90s likely. Mid and upper 80s will be common across the central and east and this is the area that has a shot at scattered showers and storms. Here’s your regional radar to track whatever shows up…

Temps will really begin to take off on Tuesday as most areas top out at 90 degrees or better. Lower 90s across central and eastern Kentucky will be common into Wednesday while the west hits the mid and upper 90s. Ouch. Throw in high humidity levels and you have the makings of a serious case of the muggies.
Can we get in on a pop-up storm or two? That’s certainly a possibility with the highest threat being across the east and southeast.
A cold front closes in on the state by late Thursday into Friday and this should provide us with a better chance for showers and storms. This should also knock our temps down by Friday. Here’s the European Model…
That front will put the brakes on and then work back to the north and allow for another surge of heat at some point next weekend. The same run of the European then slams the front back through here next Monday with a more pronounced push of cooler air…
Looks like a winter setup with a coastal storm off New England. The heat gets pushed out west and likely try to make another run at us before the month is finished.
Also of note… keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico for something tropical trying to go up over the next week.
Have a great Monday and take care.
Thanks, Chris. Kind of toasty out there today, for sure. Tomorrow looks to be even warmer and more humid. (Everybody put on the extra deoderant and dress as cool as decently possible! 😉 )
Beautiful day, though, even if it is warm. But, hey, its summer.
Is there a spot somewhere in the archives where Chris made a summer prediction for 2012? I guess I’m just wishing for a cooler than average summer after the end of this month.
