Good afternoon, everyone. We continue to watch a developing storm system set to bring snow to the region on Sunday. In the overall scheme of things, my thoughts have not changed since the last update. I don’t know if that’s good or bad. ๐
I’m still rolling with this…
Again, tomorrow’s system is going to have to fight off thunderstorms across the deep south. Those storms will interrupt the moisture supply into Kentucky, which is partially why you’re seeing the numbers higher to the west and east of us. Even across the state, holes of “not much” will show up.
The midday computer model runs find the European closest to my ideas…
The Canadian is in the same ballpark…
The new version of the GFS continues to be the most amped up, but is farther south…
The GFS isn’t even close to being as juicy as the above models…
The WPC has just about the entire state in the slight risk of seeing 4″ snows…
The best chance for slick travel comes after dark Sunday and into Sunday night. That’s when temps tank into the teens and low 20s.
Expect advisories to go up soon…
Frigid temps will be noted for the week ahead, with another system possibly bringing winter weather back into the region by the end of the week. That would be followed by another system and cold shot next weekend…

I’ll be back with another update later this evening. Make it a good one and think #teamspring! ๐
Take care.
Can’t we just have a week without any rain?
The dreaded region word. Wimpiest snow winter evah’. Still, we are now in the longest stretch of no ice storm since the 1950′. Win! ๐
Thanks Chris. I would be happy with sunshine and no precious for a few more days…. my yard is finally drying out just a bit. At least I can step on parts of it without sinking. ๐ Have a good afternoon all.
We pay a heavy price for a few inches of snow.
Not even sure a few inches. This is barely a regional even, yet alone KY. 95% of the snow action is north east of us.
Since I have nothing good to say about the weather, I’ll just say Go Vols!
Eighteen countyโs in Kentucky under a WWA that is all and thatโs probably being real generous.
Worst take ever.
Haha, snowlovers, you could have saved yourself all the build ups, followed by misery, had you listened to Russell and the Armchairs months ago haha. Sounds like a great name for a band, or a blog haha
I prefer to listen to people who know what they’re talking about.
So you do listen to Russell and The Armchairs…..Haha, Whatever makes you happy, appreciate your input
No, I said people who know what they’re talking about. Definitely not you. ๐
Definitely not you for sure dude…
Like I said, whatever makes you happy haha, Iโm a 100% the last two winters though, so thereโs that hahaha
You tell em Jim
In my 14 winters here – we have had, perhaps, 5 winters with more than 6 inches of snow and 3 with more than 10 inches. So this winter has not been that unusual for my part of Richmond… More often than not, we have between 3 and 5 inches of snow…
When I was a kid (I have lived in KY twice. The first time was 77 – 90) we had a lot more. But I did move here in 1977 – an historic winter.
Choo choo, all aboard for the rain train folks. Who else loves this gray and chill?

Not much of a snow maker and I’m thrilled! I hate when we get crippling snow fall. thank goodness no big snows this season. Bring on Spring! But the rain rain sucks.
I doubt a 4″ inch snowfall in March would be a crippling event.
Never said it would… just glad we aren’t getting any big snow fall… BRING ON SPRING…
Charleston NWS must be basing their forecast solely on the warm wedge. All the models show my area with some accumulation but NWS has all the watches and warnings starting about 30 miles or so north of I64 just as I suspected yesterday.
Hi Jim B yep definately so….I called it months ago… RIP Winter and to bear that out so far the WWA has missed WKY…**yawn** did what’s his name drop back in from another realm….**yawn**
Haha
YAY – another ankle biter…….(if we’re lucky) .. Can’t wait ๐
Just let it go, CB. Most of the snow, but an or so is not even in your market demographic ๐ Think Spring! ๐
