Good Thursday and Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we are also on guard for showers and thunderstorms going up. This action may cause a few issues with some of those outdoor plans today and that should also be the case through the rest of the weekend.
Clusters of showers and thunderstorms are on the move again today. You know the drill, any storm that goes up may be strong or locally severe. In addition to the hail and high wind potential, heavy rains may cause local high water issues.
It is NOT going to rain all day and you will get several dry hours. Here’s hoping those dry hours include parades, fireworks and cookouts. 🙂
The same general trend continues for Friday through the upcoming weekend. Outside the storms, temps will be a little on the steamy side, but a cooler look shows itself early next week. A more pronounced cooler look then tries to get established late next week into the following weekend.
I leave you with your 4th of July holiday storm trackers…
Possible Watch Areas
Have a great day and take care.
Observed Lightning flashing from 132 miles tonight, From Corbin to VA.
When I lived in the High Desert in Southern California, it was always fun to watch distant lightning flashes during nighttime summer storms.
Ski resorts are open in the Mountains of California and may remains so through August is what I heard off the radio out that way.
On the Kentucky Mesonet 3.16 inches of rain fell in Ohio County. In my County of Taylor, yesterday we received 0.32 inches in a late afternoon thundershower. the showers were much needed here.
Enjoy your Independence Day everyone ! Happy birthday America !
Wonderful weather lately! Warm with the occasional pop-up storm. Summers the way I like them. Thanks, Chris, for making it happen! 😉
Would be okay if it wasn’t a daily thing. I like the heat but my yard needs to brown up a little bit like it should in July and August. It’s lush green vegetation around here that is out of control. I can’t stay ahead of it and it’s not supposed to be like this during the “dog days” of summer. My yard and shrubs are in a rapid growth state and it is wearing me out trying to keep ahead of it. Lol
The rain also hasn’t been “occasional” here. It has rained in buckets the last two days.
It’s a very local thing now… We have had less than 1/2 inch in the last week or so as a result of the pop-up storms… Some places have had a lot more.
Harlan is by far one of the most boring areas in KY for weather, especially during t-storm season. Most of the time, storms get sheared to death by the mountains here. I only recorded 0.03 in since last week at the house. Part of my county has had some decent rain but nothing like most of the state has seen lately
Well, totally bummed about the non-stop rain yesterday evening in Lexington. We had a group of around14 all planning on a wonderful evening at the patriotic concert enjoying a picnic, good friendship, and great music. I think the concert was eventually played, late and in some rain, but we weren’t there. Hope the weather is okay around here for the fireworks.
Happy 4th everyone! Enjoy your independence!
In my part of richmond — Great night! Great day! sunny, warm and dry! We have only had one very short daytime shower all week. It has been wonderful. Not the same for everyone, I hear.
