Good Friday to one and all. Our historic heat wave refuses to let up and will carry on into the upcoming weekend. The heat will also bring more storms to our extreme weather party that kicked into high gear Thursday. This is a pattern we will be talking about for decades to come.

Record setting highs were common across central and western Ky again Thursday with many areas well over 100 degrees. This happened as the east and south got slammed by a massive complex of thunderstorms that delivered up to 70mph winds for some. Thousands remain without power and that could make for a dangerous situation with today’s heat.

These same storms put down a ton of rain in these same areas and that will go a long way in helping out with the drought conditions in the south and east.

Highs today will likely break records once again for many… especially in the central and west. Triple digit highs will combine with high humidity levels to produce feel like temps from 105-110 in some spots. We will likely see more scattered storms going up with the possibility of another cluster of storms coming together to crank out more severe stuff.

The same forecast holds true into Saturday before some changes show up. A cold front swings in later Sunday and Monday and puts the brakes on just to our south. This may give us a couple of good rounds of showers and storms and should also take our temps closer to normal for a few days early next week. Normal? Never heard of it. 😉
