Good Friday everyone and welcome to another day of storms across parts of Kentucky. We’ve had a wild few days with round after round of thunderstorms working across the bluegrass state. These storms have been big wind, lightning and rain makers and this has caused all kinds of problems. Some areas may hit the trifecta today with more strong or severe storms.
The best threat for severe storms today will be across the eastern half of the state. Damaging winds and hail will be the main players once again. Heavy rains will accompany these storms and some local high water problems can’t be ruled out.
A few words about the weekend and beyond…
– Storms will slowly work to our east later tonight as some drier air filters in.
– A storm or two will still be possible this weekend across the east and southeast.
– Temps will run in the 80s east and low 90s far west.
– The pattern next week looks like one that will give us more clusters of thunderstorms working in from the northwest. I sense more severe weather ahead.
Speaking of severe weather… let’s track what’s out there today.

I will have updates as needed. Have a great Friday and take care.
Possibly more high water problems? Wow is all I can say. Chris, I posted a picture of the flooding of Route 160 in Littcarr (Knott County) on your facebook page. Unbelievable! I grew up there, and I never saw water that high in that area. My brother still lives just past where those pictures were taken. Thank God he and his family are o.k. He has a handicapped daughter, and I was really concerned for them.
Thank you for keeping us updated. You do a great job Chris!
Really wished it would quit raining here in Knox. Had rain almost everyday for the last two weeks. Need to enjoy the summer and see some sunny days. No drought here.
Had enough summer with all those 100+ degree days with no rain for over a month that ruined my garden my vote is let it pour
I want it to stop here too, Every morning blue sky then dark clouds then storms, Friday-thursday should be sunny
The wind was crazy with the storm last nite. Lost two huge trees right in front of my house. One split and came down on another only 10 feet from the porch. Thankfully it missed the house, but what a mess to clean up this weekend.
I’m glad no one was hurt and that your house didn’t get hit.
Just looked at kymesonet and Knox has 8.23 inches of rain for July. Most in the state in locations that have mesonet stations. Looks like more rain today to add to the totals. This will make 10 out of the last 13 days that it has rained :(.
i know the other day when we had a heavy downpour here that nothing was registered on the mesonet site its all about location
Radar returns look to be strongest east of I-75 with this front dropping in, west of 75 looks broken and weaker, can Frankfort area squeeze out one more shower before the dryer weekend arrives???
With all the big storms around yesterday my backyard got .20 of rain!
Sounds like my luck with winter — 14 inches of snow in 8 years in my back yard!
Get ready Lexington here comes your next 2 in. Rain, Frankfort got its usual sprinkles and then a storm explodes just south and east headed for Lexington and too the south east ky rain forest!
