Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for checking in. The threat for strong and severe storms is on the increase today as we watch clusters of showers and thunderstorms on the move. These storm should develop to our northwest and come rolling on into town with high winds and hail to go along with torrential rains.
The pattern today is very similar to what we had last week and this could lead to a busy day. If we can get the storms to form into a cluster, the damaging wind threat will really ramp up. That is certainly a possibility today and something we will need to be on guard for.
Torrential rains and a ton of lightning will also be possible with any storm that blows up today. The overall pattern this week is likely to bring several rounds of storms to the state.
Outside of the storms this week… it’s hot and humid. Western Ky will continue to flirt with 100 degrees with the central and east in the low and mid 90s. Again… daily thunderstorms will have the final say on what the high temp is where you live.
Let’s get to tracking today’s action…

Have a great day and take care.
Chris is right, this will be the same setup like last week, east gets heavy rain and storms, west and central areas little to nothing. These blow off clouds will hold down instability in central ky which will lessen are chances of storms also.
looks according to radar its more of a northerly track than last week so SE Ky should be spared the worst
I agree, unless these storms turn right
or develop later in southern Indiana, much of central ky looks to miss out. Don’t want severe damaging weather but very dry in Frankfort area where we have missed most of the rain!
No inversions between 900-225mb, -6 lifted index, forecast CAPE above 3,000 joules, and a little bit of shear. This is a pretty good setup for a few violent storms.. if we get a good amount of sunshine this afternoon Katy bar the door..it’s about to pop off.
