Good Thursday everyone. Today will feature more of the same with hazy sunshine, hot temps and increasing humidity levels. Yes, it’s August. Things are beginning to look a little more stormy as we roll into the weekend as we have the threat for strong storms and heavy rains.
Highs today will hit 90-95 for most of central and eastern Kentucky and likely top 100 degrees in the west. High humidity will make it feel even hotter. This is not a recording.
Several of the models have been hinting at a thunderstorm complex developing to our northwest tonight and then rolling across the state into Friday. The High Resolution NAM has been doing pretty good lately in forecasting these storms and it’s picking up on this next round…
If that complex of storms is for real… it will have a big impact on our Friday highs. Temps would likely stay in the 80s for many if the action plays out like that model is showing. If not… readings could be similar to what we have today. Sometimes it really is that simple.
Rounds of storms will then continue into Saturday as the action picks up for the weekend. The same run of the NAM shows this for Saturday morning…
Take a look at the cold front across the upper midwest. That is the front diving in here by Sunday. The setup is there for an outbreak of severe storms across much of the Ohio Valley and that includes the bluegrass state.
Have a great Thursday and take care.
I hope the NAM is right. Local news this morning didn’t give much of a chance for rain til late Sunday.
Ernesto has formed near the Lesser Antilles. This one will likely be a player.
Right on cue – the radar right now looks just like that first “Late Tonight” NAM square.
just a bit more north than anticipated i think
