Good Friday everyone and thanks for dropping by KWC. Thunderstorms are ramping up right on cue and this trend will carry us into the weekend. Rounds of boomers will develop and push across the bluegrass state today and these will have the potential to put down torrential rains. The strongest cells may have damaging winds and hail.
A similar trend will carry us into Saturday and Sunday ahead of a cold front. This front will push in by later Sunday and some severe weather will be possible. The models continue to advertise some pretty good rainfall totals through the weekend…
We will have to keep an eye on this type of setup as it can produce some local flash flooding problems.
The air behind our front looks pretty comfortable with much of next week likely to see highs in the 80s for the central and east. Many of the models are showing a different look to the pattern over the next few weeks as things look a little blocky. That may send more of a trough into the eastern part of the country and that shows up on the European Model 6-10 day 500mb height anomalies…
That wouldn’t be a bad pattern for those sick of the heat. Let’s see if it actually comes to pass.
In the meantime… let’s track some showers and storms.

I will have updates as needed. Have a fantastic Friday and take care.
Rain diminishing as it comes in to Frankfort area, developing storms to the east, I hope we don’t start that trend again for central KY??
Had a few nice showers today and happy for it. Things were getting brown again cause we haven’t been getting the rain a lot of others have.
Frankfort has had some heavy rain today since my earlier comment, looks like the drought busting continues 🙂
I live just up from water street in Richmond, the rain gauge in my back yard showed 7 inches in 40 minutes!!!!
