Good Sunday everyone. Today is looking to be a rather stormy day across the bluegrass state as a nice little cold front sweeps in from the northwest. This front will likely kick off a few rounds of boomers and there’s the chance some of these could get a bit frisky.

While there is the threat for strong or severe storms today, I’m thinking more about the local flash flood threat. The storms today have a ton of moisture to work with and that means some “cloud bursts” will be possible. That’s something I will be keeping a close eye on.

If we do get severe storms to go up, damaging winds and large hail will be the typical main players.

Leftover showers and storms may hang around into Monday… especially in the south and east. Temps will come down behind the front with most areas in the 80s for highs.

The week ahead looks to feature a lot of highs in the 80s across the eastern half of the state and some 90s in the west. Some scattered showers and storms may develop toward the middle of the week and that action may pick up by the end of the week ahead of a big trough digging into the eastern half of the country.

A few days ago, I talked about the pattern looking a bit more blocky and how that may lead to a cooler pattern developing. Most of the models are going in that direction for next weekend. The GFS is exhibit A…

Don’t tease us like that, GFS!

Back to what’s going on out there today. Here’s your Sunday dose of storm trackers…
