Good Wednesday, everyone. It’s a very windy Wednesday, but it’s also a pretty nice one across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This nice weather carries us into Thursday before we get a chilly shower maker by Friday. This is pretty small stuff compared to the winter weather potential starting next week.
Today features temps in the 40s with a 50 in the west and south. Gusty winds will crank to 30mph or so at times, keeping it feeling chillier. Skies look to stay party sunny.
Thursday may have a little fog in the morning, but otherwise looks good. If that fog lingers, it could keep the numbers down a bit, but temps look similar to today.
Clouds will quickly increase Thursday night as a system works across the region. That brings some chilly showers in here for Friday and there is an outside chance for a mix on the northern edge of this…
After a seasonal chill on Saturday, the numbers climb on Sunday as clouds thicken and late day showers arrive. This is ahead of a major shot of arctic air into the nation early next week. Heavy rain and gusty winds are likely ahead of this arctic push on Monday. As the boundary moves through here, temps crash with rain to some snow on Tuesday…
That’s from the European Model and the model then brings an arctic clipper through here the following day…
That’s a big time cold look showing up. Check out the absolutely frigid temps…
Throw in the gusty winds and BRR…
That shot looks to last a few days then pulls out and we wait for the next one to take aim at us late next week or into the following weekend. That could be accompanied by additional winter threats.
The GFS Ensembles 10 day average temperature departure continues to have a major cold look for December 10-20…
Coming off of one of the coldest Novembers on record, December is picking right up the torch, or should i say icicle, and carrying it forward.
I will have updates later today. Have a good one and take care.
For some it was one of the coldest November’s on record. But November 2018 was colder than 2019 at Lexington and it wasn’t a top ten contender. Louisville missed out too. Bowling Green came in at 12th
Oh, I get it. These locations are all NWS Louisville’s problem. That’s why they were too warm. Maybe they are all using the same brand of thermometer. Why not find out what ‘brand and model’ Frankfort uses, since they were the only one to have a ‘realistic’ representation for temperatures in the Louisville CWA that takes readings from an airport. Just sounds like a logical suggestion to me. (smh)
I’m going to play it safe and wait and see what happens with the chance of winter weather for next week. Looking for a pattern change ?
Maybe we can get some snow action from the clipper.
Seems like it has been a long time since we have seen one.
