Good Monday everyone. It’s a very busy start to the week as we track the potential for severe storms and heavy rainfall. This is a dynamic fall storm system impacting our region over the next few days and we have you set up to track everything it throws our way.
Today will be another windy one as scattered showers and thunderstorms develop. Some of these may become strong or severe this afternoon and evening with damaging winds and large hail the main players. A brief tornado can never be ruled out in a setup like this one.
Here are your storm tracking toys…
Today’s scattered storms will make the transition into a very heavy rain maker later tonight into Tuesday and Wednesday. Low pressure will work toward the region over the next few days and will result in a prolonged heavy rain event.
Rainfall from today through Wednesday should range from 1″-3″ across the state with locally higher amounts possible. This may result in some local high water issues and that’s something we will be watching for.
Much colder air will pour in here behind the departing low for the middle and end of the week.
I will have updates as needed and will send out quick thoughts and warnings via twitter. Follow me here: Kentuckyweather or follow along in the twitter feed on the right side of the blog.
Have a great Monday and take care.

Wow, what winds! I have never heard the wind like it is this morning. It woke me up at 4:30 this morning. I thought it was a jet coming in.
Chris
I wonder if there is a statistic regarding how long we stayed above/below normal in precip?
This wind has been just crazy. Getting outdoor farm work done this weekend was a challenge. And now the rain. The radar doesn’t look too impressive right now. Will be interesting to watch as the day progresses.
Looks like we are in for a taste of the 2nd severe weather season. Then bring on the SNOW!
A big AMEN to that, Todd!
the rain will be good for the forest fires. they have been a lot of forest fires here in clay county, mostly around the elk mountain era. but they are other fires as well.
hope nothing to severe, and if it does, no life or property damage.
TORNADO WATCH here for dayton, ohio. very impressive squall line to our west across central indiana.
When will the snow start?? Ready for some snowy weather, but want it to stop by January! lol
