Good Tuesday afternoon folks. We continue to set the stage for another significant rain event across the state over the next few days. This heavy rain will be falling on a soggy ground with area streams running high with many rivers nearing flood stage.

An additional 1″-2″ for many will lead to more high water concerns over the next few days. Some spots may pick up more than 2″ of rain… especially across the southeastern part of the state.

A FLOOD WATCH is out for much of eastern and southeastern Kentucky from Wednesday into early Thursday. The counties in the dark green are included in the watch while the counties in the brighter green are under FLOOD WARNINGS for various river flooding…

I think central Kentucky should be included in this watch as the heavy rains will extend well into this part of the state as well. We are talking about a WATCH meaning there is the POSSIBILITY of flooding. A watch being issued for central Ky is more than justified after looking at the latest rainfall forecasts…

In addition to the heavy rain threat… we have two other things to watch for. The first being the potential for some strong or severe storms late Wednesday afternoon and evening. The other thing to keep an eye on will be a transition to some light snow later Thursday into Thursday night as cold air moves in.

Never a dull moment around here!

Here is your regional radar to track the first round of heavy rain in from the west…

Updates come your way as needed so check back. Have a great rest of your Tuesday and take care.
