Good Tuesday afternoon folks. We continue to set the stage for another significant rain event across the state over the next few days. This heavy rain will be falling on a soggy ground with area streams running high with many rivers nearing flood stage.
An additional 1″-2″ for many will lead to more high water concerns over the next few days. Some spots may pick up more than 2″ of rain… especially across the southeastern part of the state.
A FLOOD WATCH is out for much of eastern and southeastern Kentucky from Wednesday into early Thursday. The counties in the dark green are included in the watch while the counties in the brighter green are under FLOOD WARNINGS for various river flooding…
I think central Kentucky should be included in this watch as the heavy rains will extend well into this part of the state as well. We are talking about a WATCH meaning there is the POSSIBILITY of flooding. A watch being issued for central Ky is more than justified after looking at the latest rainfall forecasts…

In addition to the heavy rain threat… we have two other things to watch for. The first being the potential for some strong or severe storms late Wednesday afternoon and evening. The other thing to keep an eye on will be a transition to some light snow later Thursday into Thursday night as cold air moves in.
Never a dull moment around here!
Here is your regional radar to track the first round of heavy rain in from the west…
Updates come your way as needed so check back. Have a great rest of your Tuesday and take care.

I am enjoying the nice mix of rain and sun. It is good. Now if only we could get some good storms brewing!!
Thanks Chris! After this round of precip don’t tell us there’s another coming right behind it… Please!
rain/snow/flood…hmmm thats what happened saturday/sunday…heavyrain to heavy snow with flooding creeks….and rivers down here…
so what about the big storm brewing around the 20th???? im hearing great whaling and gnashing of teeth may be in store..with someone in the east getting a big sloppy/wet snowstorm!!..and not to mention the gfs earlier runs today were showing a swath of 1-4″ snows on the 15th,16th as well across central and northern ky….
So, umm, BlizzardTim, I saw your last comment, and can you elaborate on what you are talking about? I haven’t heard anything about a storm on the 20th, and I didn’t see anything on it on the GFS.
I now have an update over on my blog for those interested.
I believe he is referring to the 276 hour on the 6z run. it keeps popping up every few runs. we can cross our fingers! Based on this run it would be huge in my area!!

Lunar Perigee on March 19th. Chance for a big weather event? Hopefully not a disaster…
You guys crack me up. To whoever posted on my blog that I copied chris on my latest post.I did that post last night. Infact someone commented on it this morning. Lol.. But thanks for your false accusations! Nice to know I got my fan base still 😉
Is it just me or should all of Kentucky and the surrounding areas be under a flood watch? It looks like the rain, heavy rain at that is really filling in. I’m not a weather dude but it looks like at least 1-3″ of rain to me. Impressive radar returns.
