Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for checking in with KWC. It’s another below normal temperature day out there today, but things are about to toast up a bit by the end of the week into the weekend. Our overall pattern is going to look a little more like it should this time of year. That includes warm temps and the tropics coming to life.
Our run of fall air has been impressive over the past few weeks. Lexington and Jackson set record lows Monday morning and London tied their record low and a few spots may approach similar readings this morning. Highs this afternoon will range from the upper 70s to low 80s across the east with middle 80s west.
I do expect to see some scattered showers and thunderstorms dotting the radar picture out there today. The best chance looks to be in the north and east. Your radar page has you covered to track any of the boomers.
Temps will then start to come up for the middle and end of the week. Highs in the mid and upper 80s will be common and 90 degrees is possible for some.
The pattern over the next few weeks across the U.S. is likely to be dictated by what goes on in the tropics. The map of the Atlantic basin is littered with possibilities with the main system approaching the Caribbean over the next few days. This should become Issac very soon.

That storm is still forecast by many of the medium range models to head toward Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico by early next week. Here’s one of the latest runs from the GFS…
We will see what happens with the soon to be Isaac, but tropical systems are usually the bullies on the block when it comes to weather patterns.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
T.D. 9/Isaac may threaten the republican convention in Tampa early next week. Could get interesting.
Well I was hoping for another winter preview for this year. Got my hopes up Chris.
thanks, Chris. The weather the past few days has been great! “Yesterday was near perfect! But, not in August. While I have enjoyed the cooler temps immensely, I am glad to hear that temps are going to get back to near normal. Of course, we should not be surprised, since this entire year has been an oddity in the world of weather.
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming fall and winter. (also, hoping for more normal patterns, with cold weather in the winter to kill out the abundance of bugs and varments we have had.) Guess we will see.
Have a great Tueswday, everyone! And thanks, Chris, for all you do.
I am beyond excited that average temps start going back down soon. In a few days, right? I have enjoyed this weather and want it to stay. What I fear is showing up on AccuWeather’s month preview thing, a scorcher in terms of average starting the next week into mid-September. Also they show no rain. Ahhh….
Attended the state fair today, heavy rain and thunder for a good 30 min. Period or so, came back to Frannkfort to our dust bowl still in good shape, it is crazy how many times this year the rain goes around my hood, and pours on Versailles and lex area?????
