Heavy Rain Remains

Good Monday once again everyone. The threat for severe weather continues to push off to the east and south of the state as heavy rains continue for many. The storms moved though last night into this morning with high winds that caused a lot of damage for a lot of people.

The threat for the rest of the day will be the potential for flooding. Periods of heavy rain will continue to work across the state from southwest to northeast. With a super soaked ground… flash flooding will be a concern into the rest of the day. If you live in a flood prone area… keep an eye on water levels and be prepared to move to higher ground. If traveling… NEVER attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Turn Around… Don’t Drown!

Today’s Rainfall

Colder air will move in from the northwest later today and temps will tumble into the low 40s by early this evening. Winds will continue to be very gusty into late this afternoon.

Looking ahead… winter isn’t through and will try to make a comeback later this weekend into much of next week. We have not seen the last snowfall of the season as the pattern has that wintry look to it again for the next 2 or 3 weeks. Just because severe weather and flooding have kept me from talking about it doesn’t mean my thoughts changed. Priorities people! haha

That’s all for now… I am going to FINALLY get a few hours sleep before I have to work at my paying job. Watch the flooding potential for the rest of the day and take care.

THANKS CHRIS! GREAT JOB THIS MORNING WITH ALL THE SEVERE WX UPDATES. IT AMAZES ME HOW MANY PEOPLE COMMENT ON THE BLOG WITH EVEN THE SLIGHTEST THREAT OF SNOW, YET QUIET ON HERE WHEN SEVERE WX STRIKES. MAYBE IT’S BECAUSE EVERYONE IS HUDDLED IN A BASEMENT OR SOMETHING…ANYWAYS, THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HARD WORK!

going be bad flooding folks, worst flood in several years by look of that radar from sw to ne.

u live round water gets ur things togther if ur that close, if not get to store get some stuff and settle in. i predict some home lossetc. hopefully nobody losses their lives.

Your right when everyone else is wrong. =) Not only are you doing something you love, I bet you have saved many lives because of your accuracy as well! snow fans need to check out the 00z euro run as this run has snow on the ground sunday. GFS has been rock soild in showing rain to snow this weekend.

omg, here we go again … 2 weeks ago he said we would have a snow storm about right now and look, we get tornados and floods; so he mentions it again and gets people all stirred up, we will end up with rain rain rain …. i am not a rocket scientist but when temps are in the 50’s it is not going to snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just drove to Richmond from London. Rain was hit and miss, but the wind was blowing pretty hard. I was having to fight to keep my small SUV on the road.

i ran the gfs, the wizard of oz and held up the ol’ johnson rod and it told me we are going to have a huge snow coming our way next week, looks like 26 inches – and this johnson rod is never wrong!!!

Will the roads freeze tonight if it gets down to 28? I know the ground temps are warm, just wandering about flash freeze.

He didn’t say it was going to snow two weeks ago, he said the models are showing snow, he said winter wasn’t over folks. It might be 50 when you wrote this but now in Nichvegas it’s 39 degrees, who knows what the exact temp will be Sunday. Chris, Mitch, Larkin, Lincoln, etc. talk about what the models show two weeks out, it might not come true but I’m glad they at least point it out, you can take it or leave it.
