In addition to the damaging wind threat… watch for local flash flooding as these storms will produce a quick 1″-2″ of rain. Keep the reports coming and take care.

Previous Update
Good Monday everyone. A significant severe weather outbreak is likely across much of the state into the first part of today. Damaging winds… tornadoes and large hail will be possible. Torrential rains will also accompany the storms and this may lead to flooding problems.
I have set the blog up with all you need to track the storms overnight into early Monday. As watches and warnings are issued eastward across the state… I will update this post with new maps and fresh thoughts on how the storms are progressing. Here are your tracking tools…
Current Watches

Areas Being Monitored

Radars for the entire state…

Today’s Rainfall

Winds

Current Temps

With the storms moving in late at night into early Monday… many people are likely to be sleeping and not aware of the possibility of severe weather so get the word out as much as possible.
Post the reports from where you live as they provide a valuable service to various weather sources from across the state who check in to see what you are saying. I will have updates as needed and will be firing off updates and watches and warning via twitter.
Stay safe and take care.
It’s the quiet before the storm isn’t it? Thanks again Chris!
Very windy here in Berea. I’ve been watching the radar and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the storms move so fast across the screen!
Well for now all the bad stuff is in Areas to the NorthWest of Kentucky for now but I can only assume that it will change as the hours go by. Should make for an interesting morning commute
We are all at http://www.ekywx.com/kychat.htm
come chat.
Hopefully, we can get some live footage on riddlesweather tomorrow. No promises and everyone go to the chat etown listed!!
I get so anxious when these type of storms roll around, and not in a good way like snow does to me. The people who chase these storms are brave. While they are chasing, I’m running away lol. This and 90 degree heat are the only things I dread about the seasons not named winter. Stay safe!
Exactly! I’m betting on some hail and even higher winds before dawn..
Thanks, Chris!! We’ll be sleeping in the basement tonight. Thank God the basement is comfortable with a wide screen TV, stereo, iPods, xbox, wii, and couches.
The wind is kicking up in Pulaski now
You are so right about that wind, it’s really cranking here in Versailles too! I wonder what those gust are?
I am tempted to sleep in my basement to. With all the wind outside I will never sleep good. At least in the basement I can hardly hear it and I know I am safe.
Winds are wild outside! Anybody know what time this weather will be hitting? Hate to send kids off to school in a tornado watch
I couldn’t take the wind anymore. I just couldn’t sleep. Every time I dozed off it would howl outside. Cozy in the basement with my son. I can hardly hear a thing down here.
Impressive bow echo segment in SW Indiana. IF it holds together, could impact Louisville Metro in a couple of hours. Power outages could be going up. I’ve posted a current power outage map for LG&E/KU energy customers.

The howling wind woke me up and I got up and went to the front door. I stepped out on the front porch and wow, much too warm and humid. That is not a good sign for things to come!
Coffee lady you on here this morning?
Tornado reported near Centerfield in Oldham County.
Tornado reported in Bethlehem in Henry County moving east at 65 mph. Heavy damage reported in Dubois County, IN.
Tornado reported in Bethlehem in Henry County moving east at 65 mph. Heavy damage reported in Dubois County, IN.
NO sirens at all in Louisville for the dangerous cell that rolled thru the northeastern part of the county during a TORNADO WARNING….. wow. FAILURE.
High winds woke me up… Inisight EAS came on…. after the storm had passed…
Big time ball drop here.
I live in NE Lou right very close to Jefferson/Oldham county line.
Possible tornado hit Lydon in Jefferson County earlier. 100 mph winds reported in Dubois County with homes destroyed and injuries reported. Power outages in Louisville, most sirens didn’t go off. Tornado warning now for Franklin and Scott counties.
Anderson County sent out a robo call at 5:08 to alert about severe weather. Went out on the front porch and it’s so warm and a little sticky. Felt more like a July morning. About jumped out of my skin when that phone rang! Be safe everybody.
warning here in kenton county sirens going off…very intense peircing sirens havent heard this in forever.
wind and rain getting more intense here in kenton. so far i guess this would be considered straightline winds?
More damage reports coming from Oldham County and Souther Indiana. I’m going back to bed now. Good night!
wow tornado warnings it looks like from memphis to just south of cleveland, i guess it is march 1st. meteorlogical spring.
Cynthiana folks…. look out
This tornado has had the radar look from the Prospect area and has maintained it to it’s current position west of you guys…
Don’t rely on sirens this morning!
I REALLY hope the schools are watching this line and will have a delay this morning. Those kids should not be waiting on or getting on a bus until this line goes through.
Frankfort’s weather sirens and my weather radio woke me about 5:00 AM…the only Lexington TV station that had coverage was WLEX. Thank goodness for Tom Ackerman and for this site.
Lots of rain and wind…some lightning.
And the Weather Channel is covering the oscars or whatever it was from last night….incredible.
Do not depend on sirens folks. Louisville MetroSafe didn’t sound sirens because they said that a tornado warning wasn’t issued for Jefferson County. We need to take up a collection to buy them a weather radio.
Just coming thur here now, heavy rain and wind.
Wow! The wind is crazy here in Bath CO!
Tom Ackerman just downplayed tornado warnings. He said just because there is a tornado warning doesnt mean you are getting a tornado. It may be true but kinda makes people not take it seriously.
Oh dear… Probably not the best thing to say in the middle of this stuff. People will think, well I will just wait until they tell me there really is a tornado.
I hope he at least explained that it means either that a funnel cloud has been spotted, or that radar indicates rotation, or something to that effect.
Wow. That sounds like something Marc Weinberg would say.
No severe weather in Anderson Co. to report. Not even a single warning. Yet, school is on a 1 hour delay. Yeah, I can’t explain that either.
er WXMAN AT he should be wetting his paints right now, i mean this s his cup of tea.
the straight line wind damage is bad with this line, folks bat dowqn the hatches in our SE KY area.
stay safe.
Rain/Storm-line arriving here in Ashland. Yuck.
Leaving out at 8:30 looks like when the storm should hit should be a intresting drive
It is so strange looking in Johnson and the sky is moving by faster than I think I’ve seen it move before. My dogs are terrified acting and there hasn’t even been thunder.
be safe Andy im delaying my leaving till inital line moves thru then im going leave.
Reports of widespread damage in Henry County with homes destroyed in Eminence. WAVE 3 said that 3 people were injured.
Thanks Rolo glad to see your health is doing better
Morning all. Just got the chance to check in. We had quite a storm here this morning, but not as bad as other places. We had reports of buidings losing roofs (out buildings)and the roof hitting a car. Right now, other than 27 veing flooded in certain trouble spots, that is all that I am aware of. Temp was 71 when it started, and is now down to 54. Lots of wind with the storm. Sky looked ike hail, as it was an eerie yellowish color.
Heavy Rain thunder lighting and severe wind occuring in Pikeville.
thanks chris, i honestly don’t know what we would do without you. you are the greatest. god bless you.
What a night. We got a call from emergency management that there was a Tornado in west Oldham County. Just then the winds picked up. We only ended up with a little wind damage. I can see all the news helicopters flying around behind my house. Have to say tax dollars well spent on this automated call system. We never here the sirens from our house. I am in the Crestwood area.
We had strong winds, rain, thunder and lightening come through Perry County just a little while ago.
Looks like winter is over, stick a fork in it,spring has arrived early, this morning the fat lady has sung her final note.Nothing to look forwrd too but hot and humid days ahead.Mowing grass an weed eating, worrying if the crops will get enough rain, will the cooler nights bring frost an kill half my plants, downright depressing isn’t it…

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.
