Good Tuesday everyone. The leftovers of Isaac continue to spin slowly across the region today and will soon be pulling on out of town. That doesn’t mean we are done with the wet weather as a couple more systems have a ticket for the bluegrass state before the week is finished. One of those has a chance to bring us a pretty nasty weekend.
The weather out there today will feature scattered showers and storms… especially for central and eastern Kentucky. Tropical moisture means more torrential downpours are a good bet and that’s something to keep an eye on. The juice from Isaac will slowly pull away later tonight and that will allow for a cold front across the plains states to work our way.
This front may bring a round of scattered showers and storms our way late Wednesday into early Thursday. Temps both days will warm up with mid and upper 80s a good bet.
The pattern by Friday into the weekend is taking on an interesting look. Many of the models are going toward a huge cut off area of low pressure across our region. The European Model has an ugly look to it…

That almost looks like a late fall or winter track of the low. Here’s a better look at the rainfall being generated by the same model…
That model shows numerous showers and storms late Friday into early Saturday with breezy and cool weather setting in for the weekend. It also suggest showers continue into early next week. That’s when the model tries it’s very best to steer soon to be Hurricane Leslie toward New England…
That is a wild looker and one to keep an eye on. Many of the other medium range models have something similar showing up, but all differ slightly with the details.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
Wow! Chris, the outlook certainly is looking interesting, to say the least! One way or another, it looks like Western KY could get some more beneficial rains, as well as the rest of the state. As for soon-to-be Hurricane Leslie…hadn’t heard much about her yet, but I am sure that will change shortly. All I can say is hang on, it looks like a wild ride! Thanks for all you do, Chris. You are appreciated!
I am starting to approach second half of the year storms like snow storms, since we (thankfully) seem to miss most of the action here in the megalopolis of Richmond. With some weight of skepticism.
The 1.3 inches of rain Frankfort got out of this tropical system is not worth this ugly humid weather it brought with it, please mother nature be nice and bring that cool air, with or without the rain!
Both rain guages in Frankfort reported more than 2″ of rain. That’s a fact and cannot be disputed.
Todd needs to be thankful and not complain so much.
Sure hope we get at least a few hours of clear skys so to our “Taste of Harrison County Festival” This weekend. :O)
clear skies for our festival. sorry, typos. ugh
