Good Wednesday to one and all. The shortened work week is speeding along and the weekend is fast approaching and it looks to feature big weather changes. These changes will feature another round of soaking rains, windy conditions and the coolest air since spring.

In the short term, our weather is toasting it up a bit. If you are a fan of summer, you are gonna like what mother nature throws our way today into Thursday. Temps in the west will hit the low 90s with mid and upper 80s across the central and east. A couple of stray thunderstorms will be possible during this time.

By Friday, we find a big pattern change rolling into our part of the world. Our jet stream will take a big dip across the eastern part of the country and this means some nasty weather this weekend. That dip will also unleash some very cool air from Canada and you can see that on the GFS temp departure maps…

Now take a look at how cool the actual numbers from the GFS are…

There is a little BRRR factor to those maps. What about the rain? The GFS Ensembles show the widespread action I’m talking about…

Some of the models have backed off the closed low idea across the Ohio Valley. The only thing that would do for our actual weather would be to keep the leftover showers from lingering into early next week. Regardless… we have a healthy rain possible late Friday into Saturday with a big shot of cool air to follow.

Have a great Wednesday and take care.
