Good Tuesday to one and all. Our weather just does not get much better than this. You have to give it up to mother nature for the past few days as she has been bringing the good stuff to the bluegrass state. Our temps are slowly warming up over the next few days before our weekend weather goes the other way. That may lead us into a very blocky pattern for the next few weeks.

In the short term… it’s nice. Highs today will range from the upper 70s east to low 80s in the west with more sunshine.

We will all get a little taste of the 80s from Wednesday through Friday.

It’s by Friday that an area of low pressure begins to work into the Ohio Valley and this will drag a slow moving cold front into the state. This front will bring scattered showers and storms from Friday into early Sunday. The GFS seems to have a good handle on it…

The air moving into the region is looking cooler by the day. We may see a few spots struggling to get past 70 this weekend.

I continue to watch the evolution of a pattern filled with blocks. The forecast maps from all the models look more like the dead of winter than they do the middle of September. No, I’m not talking about anything crazy, but the upper air pattern is more representative of the winter months. The European Model continues to show this well…

That’s a heck of a deep trough digging into the country next week and it’s one that can bring the first snows of the season to the Rockies and upper plains. That can also bring some real deal chill to much of the country… including our little slice of heaven.

Looking farther down the road… that blocking pattern looks to hold up pretty well. The GFS shows it still around two weeks from now…

Have a terrific Tuesday and take care.
