Good Sunday to one and all. We have one cold front crossing the state today with another on the way for Monday. These two will act to bring more of a September pattern into our region. That will be complete with cooler than normal temps and even the potential for a few more systems bringing unsettled weather from time to time.
Today’s front moves in this afternoon and evening with a broken line of thunderstorms. One or two could be on the strong side, but this isn’t anything major. I will have your tracking toys a little later.
The next system drops in on Monday with another band of thunderstorms later in the day. There’s a very low end risk for a strong storm.
The air behind this front turns VERY comfy for the rest of the week with low humidity levels and below normal temps. Many areas may stay in the upper 70s to low 80s for highs. For perspective, normal highs are generally 85-90 across the state. Lows are likely to drop into the 50s for a morning or two. Check out the trough digging in for the week…
With that bit of a trough split taking place, we will be on guard for a shower or storm chance on any given day.
Several models are also beginning to pick up on another trough digging into the east for the following week…
It continues to look like August will be a wind up a cooler than normal month across our entire region. That’s something the CFS seasonal model said would happen.
I will drop by for another update later today. Until then, here are your Sunday scattered storm tracking tools…
Have a great Sunday and take care.
Thanks Chris, yesterday afternoon I was having part of my driveway graded and it was very uncomfortable just standing around watching the workman operating the back hoe. At lease it didn’t rain here yesterday, but to our immediate south the farmers have not received much rain so far in August.
I think the atmospheric changes for Fall are going to take place next week. What I hear and read the strong upper level ridge in the western US is dominating the weather news as forest fires in various areas are on the increase. Folks that live out there don’t need that with the World the way it is at the present.
Today is the anniversary of Hurricane Camille in 1969. Came ashore as a category 5 and many unfortunately lost their lives. One of the worse hurricanes in my lifetime.
Correction: Hurricane Camille came ashore on the 17th of August,1969 which was followed by a beautiful Fall and one of the snowiest Winters 1969-70 in south central Indiana. Great memories except for the deadly Hurricane Camille.
Just for fun I thought I would post this prediction for the up coming Fall and Winter 2020-21:
https://www.almanac.com/winter-extended-forecast-farmers-almanac#:~:text=Winter%20will%20be%20milder%20temperatures,with%20the%20familiar%20yellow%20cover!
Looks like a typical Fall and Winter for the Ohio Valley and a cold and snowy Fall and Winter for the Northeast. We shall see. LOL
