Good afternoon, folks. It’s an absolutely gorgeous Labor Day in the bluegrass state and that’s putting a cap on a fantastic holiday weekend. As we roll forward, we continue to watch the massive system in the west and the action picking up in the tropics. Both will have some kind of impact on the weather in the bluegrass state in the days ahead.

As I mentioned, most areas are dealing with phenomenal weather out there today. A weak cold front to the north of us continues to get just close enough to spawn a shower or storm in the north. The Storm Prediction Center almost gets into the far north in a Marginal Risk for severe storms…

Your radars will show you just how far south the storms can get…

The weather around here remains fairly calm for a few more days. The tropics are alive and kicking with plenty of action, including a system likely to approach the Carolinas in the coming days…

Once again, this is throwing up a stop sigh to the system out to our west, bringing all the wild weather to the Rockies. Check my last post for all the cool stuff I have on that.

We finally see what’s left of that western system impact our region by the weekend. Scattered showers and storms may develop ahead of this for Thursday and Friday, but the bulk of the action is over the weekend. The EURO and GFS are very similar with only minor timing issues…

That may be able to squeeze out some pretty good rains around here as the cooler air arrives behind the front. We will also have to watch for the potential of a tropical pipeline of moisture setting up from the Gulf the following week.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday and take care.
