Good Thursday everyone. We are rolling closer and closer to the weekend and there’s a big upper level low rolling into the Ohio Valley. This system will impact our weather for the next few days before we get in on pretty big taste of Indian Summer early next week. I’m still seeing the seeds being planted for the cold to return later in the month and early November.
Our day is starting out with a strong cold front racing across central and eastern Kentucky. This front is touching off a gusty line of showers and thunderstorms. Much of the day will feature a mix of sun and clouds, gusty winds and cooler temps. Readings this afternoon will hang around the low 60s for highs.
The upper low begins to really settle in by Friday with an increase in clouds and the threat for some showers. The timing of the clouds and showers getting in will have a huge impact on temps. Assuming we get in on the clouds pretty quickly… temps shouldn’t stray too much from 50 degrees.
An early morning shower is possible on Saturday before we start to clear it out. It’s another chilly day with temps back in the 50s for many.
Sunday looks great as warmer winds start to pick up. Those warmer winds will usher in a several day stretch of readings heading into the 70s. Check out the above normal readings showing up on the GFS Ensembles early next week…
Take a look at the very cold ar showing up across western Canada. That is something to watch very closely in the coming weeks as I continue to see growing signs that much of the country may get into a winter looking patter pretty early in November.
The day 10 European is showing the tremendous blocking capable of delivering this…
Note the blocking across Alaska, yet again. That would force deep dip in the jet out west that would then slowly roll eastward. The GFS Ensembles as we flip the Calendar to November hint at this…
Have a great Thursday and take care.
