Good Friday, folks. Waves of showers and thunderstorms are on the way to the Commonwealth and this may cause high water issues to develop for some. The first wave arrives today, but the ones behind this look to be the ones to become trouble makers.
Here are my latest thoughts on things play out…
- Showers move into southern Kentucky this morning then slowly lift to the north this afternoon and evening. This action is fairly light.
- Heavier downpours will show up tonight into Saturday morning, especially across southeastern Kentucky. This is where a quick 1″-2″ will be possible in some areas, leading to the potential for local high water.
- A pleasant break takes over by Saturday afternoon with temps in the upper 50s to low 60s.
- Waves of showers and storms then kick in from southwest to northeast Saturday evening. This is much more widespread and continues into Sunday morning.
- The first round may target areas across the northern half of the state.
- The corridor of rain and storms will sink farther south and southeast by Sunday afternoon and then should end Sunday night.
- Heavy rainfall is likely during this time, especially along and south of Interstate 64.
- Rainfall totals will average 1″-4″ from today through Sunday night, with locally higher amounts.
- Flash flooding and general flooding will be possible, especially Saturday night and Sunday.
- River flooding may also become an issue through early next week.

Once this clears out, the weather for Monday looks fairly nice but another system rolls in with a few showers and storms by later Tuesday and Wednesday. That will be followed by a shot of some colder air for the end of the week.
The pattern after that can get really, really warm for a bit!
I will drop by for updates later today, so check back. Until then, here are your radars to follow along…
Have a great day and take care.
Man I am itching like a man needing a fix for that warmer pattern after next week… #TeamSpring
