Good Sunday, everyone. We are springing forward today and doing so on a seasonably chilly note across Kentucky. Once into the week ahead, things continue to look very active with two systems ready to roll across the region with the mid-week setup possibly bringing a severe storms threat.

Let’s kick this party off with what’s going on out there today. Temps generally range from the middle 40s to the middle 50s across the Commonwealth as we watch our front drift slowly back to the north. This may touch off a shower or two, especially later in the day…

Showers and a few thunderstorms then sweep across the state on Monday as low pressure works across the region. The chance for any of this starting out in frozen form continues to remain low and largely north of the region…

Temps rise from southwest to northeast and we may have a map showing 70 and upper 30s at the same time.

The spring temps win the battle for Tuesday and Wednesday and may exceed the model numbers…

TUESDAY

WEDNESDAY

This is ahead of a potent storm system rolling across the Mississippi Valley Wednesday and into the Ohio Valley Wednesday night and Thursday. The setup ahead of this is primed for severe weather, but the northward extent of that will be controlled by the track of the surface low.

Here’s my current thinking…

Much colder air works in behind this to close out the week, but the weekend finds the milder air beginning to push back in from the southwest. That sets the stage for another surge of spring temps early the following week ahead of what may be another severe storms threat maker.

I will have another update late today. Have a good one and take care.
