Good Saturday and welcome to the first day of Spring. The new season kicks off at 5:37 this morning and will feature some really nice weather for the next few days. Plenty of sun and mild temps are in store for the weekend, but another stormy pattern takes over by the middle of next week.
Temps start in the mid and upper 20s this morning and recover into the upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. A bright blue sky will be noted today and again on Sunday as temps climb into the low and middle 60s.
The nice weather continues into Monday with readings flirting with 70 on a gusty southwest wind. That wind kicks in ahead of a cold front rolling closer to us by Tuesday, bringing some showers and storms with it. That front will essentially become stationary just to our north and west, allowing for a more significant storm system to roll along it a few days later…
Some pretty good thunderstorms may show up in that scenario.
After a brief shot of chill behind that system, temps rebound quickly in time for the next potent system to roll through…
This is a stormy setup likely to carry us through the end of March. The Euro Ensembles show above normal rainfall over the next 2 weeks…
One can infer a rather stormy setup from the look of that map.
Enjoy your Saturday and take care.
Thanks Chris, now this is my kind of Spring weather, but I can do without the wind on Monday.
Seems like thunderstorms have been scarce here lately. Maybe that will change at mid week.
Great weather to get out and pull the chick weed around my heat pumps, but to tell the truth I would rather go crappie or trout fishing.
It’s been an exceedingly windy month here in the Chicago area. On three of the past eleven days we’ve had wind gusts over 50 MPH, and on two other days this month, we had wind gusts of at least 39 MPH.
Thunderstorms have been scarce here too, none since last November.
It’s a gorgeous, sunny 57-degree day here in the SW suburbs, with a light breeze. I’m enjoying it before I have to go to work in a little bit.
