Good Sunday to one and all. Strong to severe storms are rumbling across parts of the sate in the early day hours, but this action quickly pulls away through the morning. A cooler and calmer brand of air comes in behind this with a much bigger change coming to end March and kick off April.
The early morning rounds of storms are pushing through pretty quickly. These storms may contain hail and high winds as they roll through. The cold front may also touch off a few more strong storms in the east later this morning. The SPC shows how the east is still in play for some severe weather early today…
We are also watching for the possibility of flooding and flash flooding in the south and southeast this morning. Some of these areas have picked up several inches of rain since Saturday morning, so keep a close eye on flood prone areas.
Cooler winds blow this afternoon as dry air sweeps in here. Temps this afternoon are much cooler and may drop to or just below freezing by Monday morning.
The rest of Monday and into Tuesday looks pretty good with Monday highs from the upper 50s to middle 60s. Tuesday looks good with temps nearing 70 on a strong southwest flow. That is ahead of a potent cold front dropping in here on Wednesday. This front will have widespread rain along and behind it, but the temperature drop is going to be dramatic and COULD lead to some snowflake action showing up late Wednesday and early Thursday…
That’s a true wintertime setup with that deep trough dropping in to end March and begin Thursday. Lows drop into the 20s Thursday morning then may reach the upper teens and low 20s by Friday morning…
Oh and the wind chills are back. Here are the numbers from 8pm Wednesday through 8am Friday…

I will try to drop by for another update later today. Until then, here are your early day storm tracking tools…
Possible Watch Areas
Enjoy the day and take care.
Thanks Chris, very heavy rains this early morning and I estimate the amount to be well over an inch when all is said and done.
No severe weather here to report this time around.
Cooler and calmer I like, but with the forecast calling for much colder than normal temperatures at the end of the week and a possible ‘April freeze’ will most likely result in a lot of disappointed Cherry and Magnolia tree lovers out there. It’s sad that this almost always happens in my area.
Lets all hope and pray this doesn’t happen as now they are the most beautiful as I have ever seen in flower.
Here in McCreary my rain gauge says 3.59 inches since midnight! River is 10 -12 feet higher than last year.
