Good Tuesday afternoon everyone. I was going to put together an update consisting of live web cams and tracking tools from the blizzard raging just to our west and north, but I just don’t have the heart to do it. That would be considered cruel and unusual punishment to all our snow lovers.

Instead… let’s focus on the impact this bad boy will have on our weather and take a look at the growing potential for the weekend.

News and notes from this storm…

– Freezing rain and drizzle continues into far northern Kentucky as temps hold near 32. Readings should spike a few degrees this evening.

– A massive area of rain and some embedded thunder will work quickly northeast across the state this afternoon and evening. Some areas will pick up better than an inch of rain.

– Temps this afternoon are ranging from the freezing mark in the far north to near 60 in the south and east.

– Winds are going to get cranking this evening and really blow up overnight and early Wednesday. Gusts to 50mph will be possible, so go ahead and secure the loose objects around your home.

– A dramatic temp drop is in store as the storm goes by to our north and drags a cold front through here. A drop of 20-25 degrees in just a few hours is likely later tonight and early Wednesday.

– Some snow showers and flurries will wrap in behind the storm later Wednesday and Wednesday evening.

The next storm continues to look to get fired up across the Gulf of Mexico Friday and lift northeastward up east coast. There is likely to be a weak wave of low pressure riding into the Tennessee Valley or eastern Ohio Valley as the primary low works into the Carolinas.

The Canadian Model continues to show this very well…

Hmmmm… that certainly looks interesting. As long as the lead low into the eastern OV is a very weak one and the primary is to our east… that’s a pretty good setup for a decent snowfall for some. If the lead low is stronger… then more of a mix would be noted… especially east. We will continue to watch it over the next few days.

Have a great rest of your Tuesday and check back for updates. Take care.
