Good Friday, folks. It’s a much better weather day taking shape across Kentucky, but we have a little bit of ugly on the way to kick off the weekend. Once we get rid of a Saturday rain system, it’s game on toward a much warmer setup as we head into Kentucky Derby Week.

Temps this morning start in the frosty upper 20s to low 30s across the east as clouds increase in the west. Those clouds are on the leading edge of milder temps that reach the 60s this afternoon. There’s even the chance for a few showers early today in the west…

The real rains arrive late tonight into Saturday as low pressure works through the region. This will bring a pretty good drink of water our way and may even produce a few thunderstorms in the southeast…

This departs the area quickly Saturday night and leaves behind an improving Sunday. Highs are back into the 60s with skies becoming partly sunny.

From there, let’s really crank up those temps. Highs reach the 70s on Monday and surge to around 80 for Tuesday and Wednesday…

Now we’re talking!!! 😎

This is ahead of a slow-moving storm system that brings showers and the threat for strong or severe storms into the region by Wednesday night and Thursday…

Current odds favor that system to keep moving along fast enough to give us a decent Kentucky Derby Day. Obviously, we will have to monitor the timing of this system in the coming days.

Have a good Friday and take care.
